Kickoff Reception
Join us for a spectacular welcome reception to kick off the 16th annual Grandparents’ Weekend and all-new Parent Summit. Listen to groovy tunes and hear from top USD administrators about what’s on the horizon for USD. This family fun event will include photo ops, festive food, refreshments and more.

Toreros Baseball Game* Don’t miss the USD Toreros versus the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers. Go Toreros! Tickets are $5 per person. USD students may request complimentary tickets at the game with their Torero ID.

This special weekend will provide families a unique opportunity to experience student and campus life, to hear from campus leadership on the outlook of the university as well as learn from expert faculty members on topics in their field. There is a $60 registration fee for all non-USD students participating in Grandparents’ Weekend. There is a $10 registration fee for USD students. The registration fee includes access to all events during the weekend except those denoted with an asterisk. These events require an additonal ticket or cost.

Founders Chapel Tour
Designed by Mother Rosalie Clifton Hill, co-founder of USD, Founders Chapel is a replica of a 16th-century Spanish Renaissance chapel and is a jewel of our campus. Sister Virginia Rodee (BA) ’57, (MA) ’74, will educate you on the history of this USD landmark and discuss Mother Hill’s vision in creating it. 10 to 10:45 a.m. Degheri Alumni Center, Room 120
Study Abroad

Culinary Demonstration Attend this Food Network-worthy cooking demonstration given by a member of USD’s award-winning team of culinary masters. Using fresh, local and organic ingredients, the chef will show the step-by-step processes for making a delicious multi-dish meal, including dessert! Taste some of the chef’s creations and receive printed copies of the recipes to take home.

Explore the unique spaces of the recently remodeled Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering. USD’s Renaissance Plan
The Renaissance Plan is the most ambitious long-term building maintenance plan in USD’s history. It will provide a rebirth for some of the university's original and most cherished spaces on campus as well as add new buildings that will enhance learning and the overall student experience. Top administrators will provide news on the Copley Library renovation, the new Learning Commons building and Knauss Center for Business Education. 2 and 3 p.m. Meet in front of Hahn University Center
Campus Tram Tours of Alcalá Park
Get to know USD from the comfort of a USD tram. The 45-minute tours will be narrated by USD student guides. No walking is required and all trams are handicap and wheelchair accessible. Please arrive 15 minutes early in front of the Hahn University Center.

Torero Brunch and Bazaar Gather the family for a buffet brunch at USD. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy with your student and recap the fun you’ve had during the weekend. You'll also have the opportunity to explore various vendor booths and purchase tickets for a fabulous drawing of prizes. A percentage of your purchases will support the Parent Partnership Fund. 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Meet in front of Degheri Alumni Center
San Diego City Tour*
Enjoy an informative and entertaining tour of San Diego on a chartered bus. The three-hour narrated tour (travel time included) will cover many points of interest, including a tour of the coast, stunning Balboa Park, Little Italy and the Gaslamp Quarter. The bus will stop at Seaport Village where you will have time to explore, shop and grab a snack on your own. Tickets are $25 for each person who attends the City Tour. Advance tickets are required for all participants. Seats are limited. Please indicate whether any passengers will be in wheelchairs.
