Your TLC and TSA

In your first semester at USD, you will be part of a Transfer Learning Community (TLC). Built around the theme Engage, your TLC will ensure you have peak academic and social experiences while at USD! Your Transfer Scholastic Assistant (TSA) serves as a liaison between you and TLC faculty and collaborates closely with various departments across campus to put on co-curricular programming. Campus Card Services

Hahn University Center (UC), Room 127 Saturday – Sunday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Torero ID card: If you uploaded a photo over the summer, you will receive your Torero ID card when you move into your residence hall. Commuters and students who did not upload a photo may get their Torero ID card at Campus Card Services.

Mail Center Move-In Pickup

Mail Center at Maher Annex Saturday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Sunday, 1 – 4 p.m.

If you are living on campus, visit the Mail Center to pick up any packages sent to your university address prior to your arrival. After 4 p.m. on Saturday, you will be able to pick up the following week, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. The Mail Center will be closed on Labor Day.

One Stop Student Center

Hahn University Center (UC), Room 126 Saturday, 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The One Stop Student Center has representatives from Student Accounts, the Office of Financial Aid and the Registrar available to answer your questions.

USD Torero Store

U.S. Bank

Hahn University Center (UC), Room 125 Saturday – Sunday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Visit the on-campus U.S. Bank branch to open an account or ask your banking questions. ATMs are located at the Hahn University Center and the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Hahn University Center (UC) Saturday – Sunday, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday, 7:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. (Textbook pickup until 9 p.m.) Visit the USD Torero Store to buy your books, supplies, technology and USD apparel. If you ordered your textbooks online, your order will be available for pickup during normal business hours. You must show your email confirmation of the order for pickup.

Students will need parking permits to park on campus starting Tuesday, Sept. 4. Parking permits are available for purchase at sandiego.edu/parking.

MySDMobile MySDMobile app lets you check out the Transfer Fall Orientation schedule, USD map, your course schedule, grades and campus events all in one place. You can also check how far away a tram is from your stop in the live tram map. Download for free through the iTunes Store or Google Play.

Get your Transfer Fall Orientation materials, then unpack, get settled into your room and meet your hallmates.

These meetings are mandatory for all transfer students living on campus. Residence hall expectations and resources will be reviewed. Locations vary by residential area; see below for directions.

Resident Transfer Student Move-In and Transfer Fall Orientation Check-In

Lunch*

Student Life Pavilion (SLP), Pavilion Dining Lunch is available for new resident students and their family members on campus. New resident students eat for free at Pavilion Dining in the Student Life Pavilion (SLP) with their name tag. Noon – 4 p.m.

Get Settled and Explore Campus* Around campus Use your free time today to take care of remaining errands. Review the list on the foldout for places that students commonly visit during their first few days on campus.

USD Athletics Tailgate* Fowler Park Come join USD Athletics for an evening of fun, games, community and school spirit! Following the tailgate, we will attend the USD Women’s Volleyball match versus Baylor. New students will not need to purchase tickets. Your lanyard and name tag will serve as your ticket. Parents, family members and guests will purchase tickets through the Office of Parent and Family Relations. 7 – 9 p.m.

USD Women’s Volleyball vs. Baylor University* Jenny Craig Pavilion (JCP) Come show off your school spirit as USD women’s volleyball takes on Baylor! It’s sure to be a packed house, so don’t miss out!

Commuter Transfer Fall Orientation Check-In

If you are not living on campus, check in anytime between these hours to receive your Transfer Fall Orientation materials. 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Mass of Welcome* Jenny Craig Pavilion (JCP) A very special Mass has been prepared to welcome all new students and their families into the USD community. All denominations are welcome and encouraged to attend. At the conclusion of Mass, families will have the opportunity to take part in the USD tradition of blessing their students as they begin their college experience. 12:45 – 1:30 p.m.

Lunch with Your TLC Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice (KIPJ), Garden of the Sea Share a meal with other new transfer students who will be in your Transfer Learning Community (TLC). 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.

Transfer Fall Convocation Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice (KIPJ), Theatre Transfer Convocation is your official welcome to the academic community of USD. Hear from USD’s president, James T. Harris III, DEd, and Associated Students President Natasha Salgado about what it means to be a Torero at USD.

Meet Your TSA Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice (KIPJ) and Mother Rosalie Hill Hall (MRH), Various Rooms Transfer Scholastic Assistants (TSAs) act as mentors for transfer students, helping with both social and academic transitions. Get to know your TSA and the other new transfer students in your TLC course. 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Student Life and On-Campus Resources Panel Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice (KIPJ), Theatre Hear straight from other transfer students how they found their place and community at USD, and the resources they found most helpful in their transition. 5:30 – 8 p.m.

Discover San Diego Dinner Series* Presented by Associated Students Meet in front of the Hahn University Center (UC) on Torero Way Enjoy an evening out and about in San Diego with other new and continuing transfer students! Share a meal at a locally owned and operated restaurant that has prepared a special menu just for you, and explore one of San Diego’s unique neighborhoods. There is no additional cost to attend this dinner, but an RSVP in advance is required.

Desserts hosted by Black Student Resource Commons, Student Support Services, United Front Multicultural Commons and LGBTQ+ at USD.
