YOU’VE BEEN ACCEPTED

TO THE Welcome UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO! Congratulations on your academic achievements. We know that your demonstrated hard work and outstanding personal character will open exciting new opportunities for you as an important member of our Torero community. Our founders, the Most Reverend Charles Francis Buddy, the first Bishop of San Diego, and Mother Rosalie Hill of the Religious of the Sacred Heart, envisioned a university on the hill as a beacon of light for the Catholic intellectual tradition. Through beauty, goodness and truth, our charism shines for the world to see, as our collective actions reflect the dignity of the individual and the imperative to care for our world and one another. We invite you to explore and discover all we have to offer to challenge your mind, heart and spirit as we join you on your journey to shine even brighter! We are confident that you will make a lasting contribution to the University of San Diego and to the world. We are one of only 44 institutions in the world designated as a Changemaker Campus. Our Catholic identity and Changemaker distinction reflect a deep conviction to help students apply their knowledge, skills and talents to confront humanity’s urgent challenges. Your total student experience, both inside and outside of the classroom, will equip you with enduring insights and capabilities that provide a competitive advantage after graduation, where a robust alumni network will support you throughout your career. Our Torero community looks forward to greeting you upon your arrival in August. Meanwhile, if you have any questions, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at (619) 260-4506. You can keep pace with the latest developments at USD by following me on Twitter and Instagram @usdpres. Sincerely,

James T. Harris III, DEd President

DEAR FUTURE TORERO, Once again, congratulations on your acceptance to the University of San Diego's Class of 2024! We are very excited to welcome you to the Torero family. In light of the most recent recommendations of USD’s COVID-19 Action Team, President James T. Harris has put in place a plan to move all USD classes to an online format and to transition our students currently living in the residence halls to off-campus housing. Therefore, effective immediately, we are suspending all on-campus events until further notice, including tours and all admitted-student events. Regretfully, we are unable to welcome you to campus. We are balancing our commitment to maintain a healthy and safe campus community with your wish to include a campus visit in your decision-making process. With that in mind, we are developing a robust series of virtual events and experiences which will take place online throughout March and April. We encourage you to monitor your email and your MySanDiego portal's admitted tab for the release schedule of webcasts covering topics such as academics, Torero Life and University Ministry. We will also be offering several live broadcasts with students via Instagram (@usdadmissions) and the USD’s Class of 2024 Facebook page. Topics for these events include dorms on campus, common areas and study spaces, where to eat on campus and more. While it may not be the same as an in-person visit, we hope it will be a fun and informative experience for all of our viewers. You can also visit campus virtually by visiting sandiego.edu/virtualtours. In addition, check out USD Admission’s YouTube channel (youtube.com/USDAdmissions) and view the “Virtual Experience” playlist to get a closer look at the Torero community. We appreciate your understanding as we all navigate these very challenging times. Should there be any additional changes regarding our planned on-campus events, we will be certain to notify you via email and your MySanDiego portal. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out via phone or email. Warm Regards, Minh-Ha Hoang Director of Admissions

The Renaissance Plan is a multiphased renovation and campus expansion plan that will enhance student and faculty facilities and add to our reputation as one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. During the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters, two of our buildings, Camino Hall and Founders Hall, will be offline. The university has carefully planned for this and accommodations have been made for the faculty, administrators, classrooms and residence spaces that will be impacted. You will be receiving more information about these plans in the coming weeks, and you can visit sandiego.edu/admitted for more details.
