Take advantage of our one-day career exploration trips, called Torero Treks. Seventy-three percent of our students participate in internships—many of which result in job offers after graduation. The USD Career Development Center office provides all types of support, from one-on-one counseling to networking events and professional development seminars.

Accountancy Our accounting program ranks in the top five percent by College Factual, and most students receive job offers while they’re still in school. With annual on-campus hiring events, you will have opportunities to interview for internships and fulltime positions. Specialized accountancy tracks include accountancy/supply chain management, accountancy/real estate and accountancy/information systems.

Business Administration The comprehensive business administration major draws from many of the other areas— from accountancy to operations and from marketing to finance—so you learn how every business function integrates with others. Courses like Strategic Management give you real-world consulting opportunities, and all throughout your journey, you’ll have award-winning research professors and successful business leaders to guide you.
Business Economics Put your analytical skills to work as a business economics major and you will be prepared for a career as an analyst in investment banking, government or public policy. As you deepen your understanding of how management and government policies affect growth, trade and taxes, you will also study a variety of business topics including organizational behavior and business law—all with faculty who have worked everywhere from the Federal Reserve to multinational corporations.

Economics Our economics major starts with learning the basics of microeconomics and macroeconomics in principles and intermediate theory courses, followed by applied econometrics—all with our awardwinning faculty. This major provides lots of freedom, as you can balance out the six upper-division economics electives with courses from other areas like mathematics, political science, communication studies, international relations and more. Whether your goal is to work in the for-profit, nonprofit or government sector, you will learn the analytical skills that are highlydemanded by prospective employers.

Finance Whether you’re interested in financial planning, investment banking or financial management, you will develop a portfolio of skills related to corporate finance, investments and international finance from both a global and social perspective. Using industry tools like Bloomberg and FinViz.com, you’ll practice how to screen stocks, identify their strengths and weaknesses and make recommendations whether to buy, hold or sell stock in USD’s own Student-Managed Investment Fund.

International Business International business helps you build a global mindset. To deepen your knowledge of other cultures, you can pick from a variety of electives—including pre-approved regional classes outside of the School of Business, like History of Brazil or Issues in Modern Africa. From Austria to Uruguay, you can live and study in more than 30 different countries while earning USD credit.

Marketing You will see how strategy, market research and consumer behavior combine to make compelling campaigns. Whether you’re interested in pitching advertising concepts, conducting market research or diving into digital marketing, we’ll help you prepare for an exciting marketing career. In Digital Marketing and Social Media, you’ll run advertising campaigns for real clients in San Diego using Google analytical tools, and in our Consumer Behavior class, you’ll take field notes, conduct interviews and code data to see how marketing concepts might work in other countries.

Real Estate You will learn what it takes to become a successful real estate pro—whether through commercial real estate, working for a developer or investing. Through case studies, you’ll learn legal and ethical principles of commercial and residential real estate, financing, valuation and investment practices. You can intern and network with local industry professionals and see firsthand how sustainable real estate works. You can also take part in the annual NAIOP University Challenge.

Minors Entrepreneurship Minor In our entrepreneurship classes, we’ll help you learn the foundational leadership and venturevetting skills of the greats—whether your goal is to start a new business, advance in your current company or join a brand-new business (versus one that’s already established).
Information Technology Management Minor Do you enjoy troubleshooting and helping with technology? You might want to consider minoring in our information management technology program. Whether big or small, business and government entities rely on people like you to keep their productivity thriving through technology and information systems best practices. You’ll learn how to solve business problems using the Internet, databases and programming software. You can even choose to study digital design and development—including how to build an interactive website or design a mobile app— so you can really stand out in today’s 21st century workplace.
Law and Ethics Minor Whether you’re entrepreneurial-minded or you’re interested in pursuing law school, a minor in law and ethics will give you a great foundation for understanding the legal, ethical and social responsibility aspects of business. Through case studies and experiential learning, you’ll master topics like economics,
business law and negotiations. Plus, you’ll have access to skill-building electives like Legal Aspects of Real Estate and Global Social Entrepreneurship.
Management Minor As a management minor, you’ll build a broad foundation in business and leadership skills so you can successfully manage your own set of employees one day. Through case studies and experiential exercises, you’ll learn how motivation, group dynamics, conflict and other organizational behavior affect employees and their productivity. With electives like Human Resource Management and Small Business Management, you can apply basic training, staffing and compensating concepts to any small-sized company.
Supply Chain Management Minor Nearly every product you can think of is the result of a complex supply chain. From the moment products are sourced as raw materials to how they ultimately land in your hands, supply chain management professionals are involved every step of the way. As a supply chain management minor, you’ll learn all the ins and outs of operations from production planning to inventory management and warehousing. You’ll also study how to develop and maintain successful supplier relationships both domestically and globally.

Dual Degree Programs in Business As part of the International Partnership of Business School (IPBS), you have the opportunity to study two years at the University of San Diego and two years fully immersed at Dublin City University or Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid, Spain. At the end of four years, you will hold a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from USD, along with a bachelor’s degree in international business from the partner institution. We are also initiating similar programs with three other European universities.
