Latin Dance Workout
Tap Fundamentals
This class infuses interval training with an easyto-follow series of Latin-style dance steps and high-energy music. Movements are some of the major styles of Latin dance, including calypso, cumbia, cha cha, hip hop, samba, reggae, meringue and salsa. Sessions start off with slow warm-up moves, building to high-energy, heart-thumping routines that take up the better part of each session. Towards the conclusion of each class, the routine winds down gradually to a slower tempo to give you an opportunity to slow down your heart rate and to cool down before class ends. Rhythmic, Latin-inspired routines are perfect for anyone who loves to dance and seeks a great cardio workout.
This course teaches rhythm, coordination, terminology and choreography and was designed to both refine the skills of more seasoned dancers, while introducing new dancers to the art and excitement of tap. Each week you will put the fundamentals to work learning new steps, rhythms, patterns and combinations. Additionally, learn different styles of tap such as Broadway and Hoofing. By the end of the 10 weeks, develop speed, clarity, dynamics and the ability to execute rhythmic combinations.

Arts Integration + Collaboration This course focuses on integrating the arts across the curriculum to drive learning in and through the arts. It also develops the collaboration skills of teaching artists to co-plan and co-teach with teachers/arts specialists in preK-12 classrooms and community sites. In collaboration with the Philadelphia Arts in Education Partnership (PAEP), guest speakers (primarily PAEP rostered Artistsin-Residence) are featured as they present methods to incorporate and apply arts across the curriculum. Models of collaborative work developed between both classroom instructors and professional artists in visual and performing arts are studied in relation to academic standards and effective student learning projects. Teaching artists build on skills acquired in Methods and Teaching Practicum.

Writing Creative Writing
Writing the Short Film
Limited to 20 Participants
Just as poems differ from novels, short films differ from feature films. Shorts are an art form in their own right. Shorts allow filmmakers an opportunity to approach character and story in a way that often does not work in feature films. This course is an examination of screenwriting as it applies to short films — a crash course in understanding the process of making an effective piece that both exploits the uniqueness of the form and avoids the pitfalls that many filmmakers encounter.
This course focuses on the craft and commercial value of both fiction and nonfiction. Through a workshop format, explore plot structure, character development, effective dialogue, voice and point of view. You will benefit from energetic class discussions, written critiques and conferences with the instructor. THIRD-PARTY BILLING + SPONSORED STUDENTS Third-party billing is when a company or government/outside agency has established special billing arrangements to cover tuition and/or fees for students that it sponsors. The University must receive an authorization from the sponsoring agency before third-party billing can be processed. All billing authorizations – which may be a letter, purchase order or voucher – must be on official agency letterhead and signed by an officer of the organization. Payment by the sponsor must be made directly to the University; agreements where payments are sent to the student cannot be honored. All authorizations must include the term or dates that the authorization is in effect. Continuing Education cannot accommodate any restrictions or contingencies on the authorization. For instance, if the agency requires grade or transcript information before payment, the University cannot authorize third-party billing. All sponsored students are required to complete a Tuition Repayment Agreement (promissory note) in order to be registered for the class and to initiate third-party billing. In the event of non-payment or partial payment by the third-party agency, the student will be charged for the unpaid amount. Third parties are invoiced after the class is confirmed to run. Payments must be made within 30 days of billing. If payment is not received within 30 days, the agency and the student will be notified, and the student will be billed for the unpaid amount as authorized on the Tuition Repayment Agreement. Any charges that are not paid by the sponsor are billed directly to the student.
