UNIVERSITY OF WOLVERHAMPTON BUSINESS SCHOOL Faculty of Social Sciences In the Faculty of Social Sciences, we offer postgraduate and professional taught qualifications including MA, MSc and MBA degrees, postgraduate diplomas and certificates in accounting and finance, business and management, human resources, marketing, leisure industries management, law, and history. Postgraduate research students can apply for PhDs in areas such as human resource management, law, the First World War, international business, and discrimination law. We have a distinguished history of supporting business in the West Midlands and Black Country. Established for over 80 years, we have trained thousands of local and regional managers and supported organisations in their development.

We were one of the first business schools in the country to offer MBA programmes and coaching and mentoring qualifications, and have a tradition of innovation in developing courses which meet the needs of business and managers. Our £18m flagship Lord Swraj Paul building opened in November 2015. The six-storey home of the Business School includes an executive education suite, innovative teaching and learning spaces, an IT suite, consulting rooms, and a central social space and café. BUSINESS MPhil / PhD

Advance your academic knowledge and understanding of business management in a national and international context within a supportive and creative research environment.

This course is hosted by the Management Research Centre (MRC) with a stimulating research environment where PhD students play a vital role. With about 25 PhD students currently aligned to our four research clusters, you will join a highly interactive and vibrant research community. Alongside topic-specific supervision, we provide training in research methods and methodologies, and offer opportunities to develop your teaching skills.

The MRC has established a reputation for applied management research. Research at the MRC is grouped in four thematic research clusters, namely HRM and Industrial Relations, Corporate Governance and Ethics, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development, and International Business. Our PhD students are aligned with research in these clusters and benefit from working with leading scholars in these fields. In addition to the regular supervision provided by supervisors, our PhD students will also be provided with training opportunities by the MRC, the Faculty, and the University’s Doctoral College.

HOSPITALITY AND EVENT MANAGEMENT MA, PG CERT MA Hospitality and Event Management is designed to equip professionals to undertake a range of diverse operational and strategic management roles within the hospitality and event sectors. MEDICAL EDUCATION PG Cert This is a vocationally-focused programme intended to prepare hospital-based doctors at SHO, Registrar, Specialist Registrar and Consultant level, GPs, Senior Clinical Grades and related health professionals, to become medical educators in the workplace and to improve existing skills and knowledge.

You will leave the programme with a range of knowledge and skills, and with confidence to lead within the complexity of the health and social care environment. You will have a qualification that is appropriate, valued and relevant in the health sector. Successful completion enables progression onto the MSc Healthcare Leadership, with accreditation of prior certified learning for one module.

The MSc in Professional Accounting and Finance allows you to both complete your ACCA qualifications and gain a Masters in Accounting and Finance within 18 months, greatly enhancing your opportunities to find attractive employment positions. A recent survey by ACCA found that studying for the ACCA qualification helped individuals find new roles and reassured employers of the technical and business skills of candidates. In 28% of cases it was a pre-requisite for obtaining the position. ACCA students and affiliates frequently earned salaries that exceed the national average across professions.
