How to get to us Wherever you’re travelling from, getting to us here in Wolverhampton is simple thanks to our central UK location. BY PLANE Birmingham International Airport is just 30 minutes away by train with direct routes from countries including China, India, the USA and much of Europe. BY TRAIN Wolverhampton City Campus is just 5 minutes’ walk from the West Coast mainline station, with frequent and direct trains from and to Birmingham (18 minutes), Manchester (just over 1 hour) and London (under 2 hours). BY CAR The city is close to the M54, M5 and M6 motorways, so you can easily get to us by car or by coach. When you want to explore the rest of the UK, Wolverhampton’s proximity to these local, national and international transport links makes getting around easy. The city is also a bus and metro hub, making the rest of the West Midlands easily accessible.

With a history going back to the early 19th century, City Campus is right in the centre of Wolverhampton and could be where you start your own journey.
If your course is taught at our Walsall Campus, you’ll find everything you need – from onsite accommodation to specialist facilities for key subjects.
Telford Campus is home away from home for many of our international students, and where you’ll find some of our most exciting developments happening.
The campus has helped to change the landscape of the city, from historic buildings like the Wulfruna and George Wallis buildings, home to the Wolverhampton School of Art (est. 1851), to multi-million pound developments like the Rosalind Franklin Science Centre and new home of our Business School, the Lord Swraj Paul Building.
You can learn to teach or prepare for a career in the health professions, hone your craft in The Performance Hub or realise your sporting ambition with extensive sports facilities including a new 3G artificial grass pitch.
The International Academy at Priorslee Hall is based at the picturesque, countryside campus and provides support at every level for students who need help in improving their English language proficiency.

SPORTS CENTRE As well as sports facilities, including a new 3G pitch, Walsall Campus is home to sports labs and a stateof-the-art DXA suite for sport, exercise and healthrelated research, including bone density testing. LATTE ROOM The Millennium City LaTTE room is the result of our project aiming to create the perfect flexible learning and teaching environment, facilitating individual and group work with a focus on technology and accessibility. RECORDING STUDIOS Budding musicians can make use of The Performance Hub’s two recording studios and additional live rooms, equipped to the highest professional standard. THE SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE AND BUILT ENVIRONMENT Gain hands-on practical learning with a prototyping laboratory, design studio, drawing offices and virtual reality suite. ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT We’ve invested £10m in engineering courses, facilities and equipment at Telford Innovation Campus. You could even get involved with University of Wolverhampton Racing Team, which debuted in the Protyre Formula Renault championships in 2015.

Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing The Faculty brings together five Institutes specialising in subject areas headed up by academic staff who are experts in their fields, with many courses accredited by recognised professional bodies. The Faculty’s outstanding facilities include the multimillion pound Sports Centre and advanced, purpose-built healthcare and teacher training buildings. INSTITUTE OF SPORT: Multi-million pound facilities, excellent links with industry, renowned and dynamic staff, and interesting and challenging courses make Sport one of the leading lights of the University. Faculty of Science and Engineering The Faculty of Science and Engineering is pivotally positioned in the rebuilding of the technological/scientific capacity vital for the regeneration of engineering and related expertise in the UK. With a rich and long history of technology, teaching and local skills provision, the Faculty is committed to growing its base in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and works closely with leading companies such as Morgan, Jaguar Land Rover, Moog and UTC Aerospace Systems. UNIVERSITY OF WOLVERHAMPTON BUSINESS SCHOOL: Established for over 80 years, our Business School has a distinguished history of supporting business in the West Midlands and Black Country. We were among the first in the country to offer MBA programmes, coaching and mentoring qualifications and have a tradition of innovation in developing courses which meet the needs of business. UNIVERSITY OF WOLVERHAMPTON LAW SCHOOL: The Law School has over 30 years’ experience of providing legal education to the highest standard, reflecting the latest legal developments. INTENSIVE ENGLISH PRE-SESSIONAL PREPARATION COURSES Students are required to hold an IELTS of 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each component in order to enter our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes directly. However, if you do not hold this score, do not worry! One of our intensive English courses will help you meet the requirements. Below is a guideline of the duration and cost of the courses. In these classes, you will practise writing, reading, grammar, listening, and formal and informal speaking. You will also find out about British culture and society.

All teaching at the University is carried out in English, so you must have a required proficiency in the language. As 2nd in the UK for graduate employment, employability is at our core. Money Matters We believe that the overall Wolverhampton experience offers excellent value for money and is a sensible investment in your future. The low cost of living in Wolverhampton, compared to other cities in the UK, means your money goes further – according to numbeo.com, consumer prices in the city are 20% lower, eating out is 30% less expensive, and rents are up to 300% lower! It’s estimated that a single student living in Wolverhampton will need approximately £1,015 a month to meet basic living expenses such as accommodation costs, food, books and equipment, and other necessities. This is in line with the Home Office recommended figures for living outside London. This figure is given as a guide only. WHERE TO BUY FOOD Wolverhampton has a variety of major supermarkets including ASDA, Sainsbury’s and Tesco, cheaper supermarkets including Lidl and Aldi, and premium supermarkets such as Waitrose and Marks & Spencer. British shops and larger supermarkets stock a wide range of products including foods imported from other countries and foods meeting religious requirements, such as Halal. There are also many local ethnic stores where you will be able to find the foods you are used to eating at home.
FOOD COSTS: £30 - £35 (average cost of weekly shop purchasing supermarket’s own brand). ACCOMMODATION COSTS: £4,900 - £8,300 per year depending on the type of accommodation. OTHER COSTS: To cover items such as books, clothing, entertainment, laundrette and dry-cleaning, personal hygiene items and household articles, you will need approximately £340 for the year.
The following example helps to illustrate the breakdown of costs. Let’s say your course fee is £12,000 and you’ve paid £3,000 in advance. For living costs you’ll need to show £9,135 (£1,015 x 9 months) but you’ve also paid £500 towards your University accommodation already. So, for this example, the amount you’ll need to show in your bank account is £17,635 – because £9,000 + £9,135 - £500 = £17,635.
Food prices are very different depending on where you shop and what products you buy. Supermarkets often have ‘own label’ brands which are cheaper than more recognised brands. You could also explore local markets or bulk buying.

Being a doctoral student at the University of Wolverhampton is one of the most memorable experiences of my life. The exciting research project on first year undergraduate experience matched my research interest perfectly as my Master degree study was about educational leadership and innovation.

Apply for a visa
• If you have a conditional offer, you will need to email your outstanding documents. • If your offer is conditional on meeting the English language requirements, then you may want to consider a pre-sessional English course (see pages 19-20).
To accept your offer, you will need to pay a deposit towards the tuition fees. This demonstrates to the visa authorities that you are a serious student. If you are a conditional offer holder and do not meet visa conditions, we will refund this payment, with the exception of £50 which is retained as an admin fee.
Applications will be considered at any time up until the course start date, although we advise you to apply well in advance to allow plenty of time to arrange your visa, accommodation and deal with any other issues ahead of your studies in the UK.
