Welcome
Welcome to the University of Wolverhampton Business School The University of Wolverhampton Business School (UWBS) has a distinguished history of supporting business in the West Midlands and Black Country. Established for over 80 years, we have trained thousands of local and regional managers and supported organisations in their development. We were one of the first business schools in the country to offer MBA programmes, coaching and mentoring qualifications and have a tradition of innovation in developing courses which meet the needs of business and managers. The School continues to be one of the largest providers of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) accredited programmes in the country. Our MBA has Chartered Management Institute (CMI) recognition and accreditation and we prepare managers for the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) qualification. Our relationships with professional bodies result in our provision being informed by the latest professional practice. Research also underpins the activities of the School. In the last research assessment exercise (RAE) the School outperformed other post-92 universities in the region in the area of business. Our research engaged staff advise managers, organisations and even government, and they and their work contribute to making sure all our courses are research informed and contemporary. A School to be proud of Established in 1931, the University of Wolverhampton Business School (UWBS) was one of the first business schools in the country to offer the Master of Business Administration (MBA) course and has a tradition of innovation in developing courses which meet the needs of business and managers locally and internationally. The School has over 60 full-time lecturers and professors drawn from a wide spectrum of business and management disciplines and backgrounds. Many have held senior positions in multinational and blue chip organisations whilst others have worked in the public sector or for non-profit organisations.

Research-informed courses Our research-engaged staff advise managers, organisations and government; their work contributes to ensuring all our courses are research-informed and contemporary. In the last research assessment exercise (RAE), Wolverhampton Business School outperformed other post-1992 universities in the region in the area of business. We are committed to testing the boundaries of knowledge through applied research. We have a vibrant community of business researchers within designated research clusters including: Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, Corporate Governance and Ethics, and HRM and Industrial Relations.
Our relationships with professional bodies mean our courses are well-informed by the latest professional practice. We have excellent partnerships with industry and strong links with bodies such as the Institute of Directors (IoD), the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).

A number of our courses provide the opportunity to study a professional qualification alongside a Master’s programme. The Business School is an accredited study and examination centre for the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
Building for the future
We understand the value of partnerships with business and work closely with organisations to ensure the relevance of our courses. Our students have opportunities to undertake live case studies, work experience, internships and short placements with partnership businesses. The University is constantly striving to enhance the student experience and this is reflected in the £18 million investment to create a new home for the Business School, planned to open in September 2015. The six storey flagship building will combine teaching and social learning space with specialist undergraduate, postgraduate, research and executive education areas. The building will reflect the Business School’s growing reputation and engagement with the business community.

This vocationally-focused programme prepares hospital-based doctors (at Senior House Officer, Registrar, Specialist Registrar and Consultant level), GPs, Senior Clinical Grades and related health professionals, to become medical educators in the workplace and to improve existing skills and knowledge.
Providers of healthcare recognise the need to equip existing and potential middle and senior level healthcare managers with high-level management and leadership capabilities. This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to lead change and improvement initiatives within a healthcare setting.
While exploring the role of teaching and learning in the clinical environment, focus is placed upon how a medical teacherpractitioner may facilitate learning through a range of different techniques. You will also investigate the rationale and methods by which clinical learning is assessed across a range of metrics, whilst evaluating the effectiveness of these metrics.
These are explored in the context of rapidly changing policy and regulatory frameworks, and within a societal climate of ever-increasing demands and expectations on health services.
