A message to all our Undergraduate students

8 6 Modules per year

15 x 20 Credits

per module

STILL

= 120 Credits per year

Deeper learning means greater understanding • From September 2010 most of our Undergraduate students will study 6 x 20 credit modules each year, rather than the present model of 8 x 15. • Fewer modules will mean we can provide better resources to support your learning experience. • The new curriculum will give us an opportunity to design in greater accessibility and innovative teaching practice.

= 200

Study hours per module

Helping you manage your time • There will be no reduction in the study hours for your course overall. They will simply be divided up differently. • Just as now, you will continue to have a combination of face-to-face and independent study time, supported by opportunities for blended learning. • We have published a three year academic calender, so you know what your course looks like in advance.

+ Assessment

= Time management

Feedback

Assessment and feedback • Learning Works will deliver an improved, less confusing course structure with more core modules to help guide your studies. • Assessment will be spread across the year, ensuring assessments are no longer ‘bunched up’. • That means your lecturers can give you more feedback on your work.

A few words

A few words from the Students’ Union As a direct response to our recent, successful, and very well attended ‘All Student Meeting’, we listened to your concerns about communicating with you over the Learning Works initiative. The Students’ Union supports the University’s proposed developments and we are enthusiastic about the benefits this is intended to bring to the overall student experience. On your behalf, we have been involved in drawing up the new model for the curriculum, ensuring that the best interests of the student body for the future are represented and that current students are not disadvantaged by the transitional processes.
