Welcome to the University of Wolverhampton Business School The University of Wolverhampton Business School (UWBS) has a distinguished history of supporting business in the West Midlands and Black Country. Established for over 80 years, we have trained thousands of local and regional managers and supported organisations in their development.
We were one of the first business schools in the country to offer MBA programmes, coaching and mentoring qualifications and have a tradition of innovation in developing courses which meet the needs of business and managers.
The School continues to be one of the largest providers of CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) accredited programmes in the country. Our MBA has CMI (Chartered Management Institute) recognition and accreditation and we prepare managers for CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) and CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) professional qualifications. Our relationships with professional bodies result in our provision being informed by the latest professional practice.
Research also underpins the activities of the School. In the last research assessment exercise (RAE) the School outperformed other post-92 universities in the region in the area of business. Our research engaged staff advise managers, organisations and even government, and they and their work contribute to making sure all our courses are research informed and contemporary.

We are approved by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and an accredited study and examination centre for the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). We also have links with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). Furthermore, we have devolved status with the CIPD which allows for the internal assessment of all professional HR programmes.

We know how important partnerships with business are and we work closely with organisations to ensure the relevance of our programmes. As the leading UK business school in Knowledge Transfer Partnerships we have worked with a wide variety of regional businesses to advise them in their development.
Established School: great history, growing knowledge The University of Wolverhampton Business School (UWBS) has grown in size and importance over 80 years by focusing on the needs of participants and organisations in the region, across the country and throughout the world.
The School has a faculty of over 60 full-time lecturers and professors drawn from a wide spectrum of management disciplines and backgrounds. Many have held senior positions in multinational and blue chip organisations whilst others have worked in the public sector and in not-for-profit organisations.

We have a vibrant community of business researchers within designated research clusters including Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, Corporate Governance and Ethics, HRM and Industrial Relations, and the Public Sector. Facilities Study on-campus: Learning Centres
We have three Learning Centres (based at Telford, Wolverhampton and Walsall) with certain sites open seven-days-a-week. The Centres not only hold textbooks and journals, but give you access to a wealth of online multimedia resources, with everything you’ll need to help you complete your assignments or revise for an exam. If you have your own computer, we provide one of the largest wireless networks in UK higher education, allowing you remote access to the Internet across all campuses. Furthermore, the Learning Centres have laser-printing facilities, a video conferencing suite, satellite TV for international business programmes and individual study rooms for group work or silent study.
Study off-campus: WOLF
We are committed to blended learning in order to enhance your learning and development. We use the WOLF (Wolverhampton Online Learning Framework) system to provide you with learning support and resources. This can be accessed on or off-campus.

Business and Management Masters in Business Administration (MBA) Course length: 2 years

This course develops your knowledge of key business functions and their relationship with the wider strategic and international environment. You will also expand your knowledge and understanding of the current changes in the business environment through the study of leadership, organisational change and transformation, innovation and stakeholder management. By the end of the programme you will have enhanced your knowledge and understanding of business and management concepts and principles, theoretical frameworks, and applied analysis, through a range of learning experiences such as live case studies, visiting speakers and blended learning. You will also develop key skills in formulating and managing research, presentations, problem-solving and organising and managing group-based projects. The course has CMI professional body recognition and accreditation, giving you the CMI Level 7 Diploma.
Who is the course aimed at?
Those with a minimum of two years’ general management work experience. You will normally have held a managerial role at an operational/functional level and will be looking for career progression to a more senior/strategic role.

Successful completion of the DMS provides a qualification which is recognised as enhancing career prospects in a number of operational and managerial roles across a wide range of business sectors. The DMS may provide the basis for further study in a range of professional subject areas such as accounting, marketing and human resources. It also provides the opportunity to top-up to an MBA within a five year period of completing the DMS.
You will study a blend of functional and operational aspects of management, including functional areas such as marketing, accounting and human resource management, before moving on to integrate and contextualise your knowledge and skills. When you have completed the MA Management and gained two years’ management experience you are able to convert you MA into an MBA through a short distance-learning programme and research project.

This is an internationally recognised and acclaimed financial and strategic management qualification. It is a unique financial award as it extends beyond pure accountancy to embrace the principles of general management. The course combines the latest financial, statistical and strategic tools with a range of core management disciplines to give you the knowledge and skills you need to lead organisational decision-making. Our vibrant and diverse accountancy department has over 20 years’ experience of providing financial education. This programme is taught using CIMA’s own study materials and past examination papers, and is assessed through a series of three-hour examinations, set and marked by CIMA. Successful completion of the Operational Level modules leads to the award of CIMA Diploma in Management Accounting. Following this, completion of the Management Level modules leads to the award of CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting. Completion of the Strategic level modules, plus the required practical experience leads to full Chartered Management Accountant status.

Those who wish to qualify as a Chartered Management Accountant. To do so you must complete the Operational Level, Management Level and Strategic Level (nine modules) as well as meeting additional criteria stipulated by CIMA, including achieving the requirements of the Test of Professional Competence in Management Accounting.

Postgraduate Certificate Medical Education Course length: 1 year Outline
This vocationally-focused programme prepares hospital-based doctors (at Senior House Officer, Registrar, Specialist Registrar and Consultant level), GPs, Senior Clinical Grades and related health professionals, to become medical educators in the workplace and to improve existing skills and knowledge. While exploring the role of teaching and learning in the clinical environment, focus is placed upon how a medical teacherpractitioner may facilitate learning through a range of different techniques. You will also investigate the rationale and methods by which clinical learning is assessed across a range of metrics, whilst evaluating the effectiveness of these metrics.
Who is this course aimed at?
Participants will normally be qualified doctors at Senior House Officer, Registrar, Specialist Registrar, GP or Consultant level. Applications from Senior Grades will also be considered, together with related health specialities of podiatry, ophthalmic, dentistry, etc. This programme has been specifically designed to provide relevant knowledge and skills for those acting in the role of medical educator in the health sector context.

This course develops your knowledge and understanding of the various functional areas of business, including management, marketing, human resources, finance, and operations and management systems. Entrepreneurship and innovation, key drivers for economic and business development, are a particular focus of the course as well as globalisation and internationalisation.
Who is the course aimed at?
This course is appropriate for participants from a range of backgrounds including those early in their career who have recently obtained A-levels (or equivalent) or those without formal previous qualifications but who have a number of years’ work experience and who find they need a degree in order to progress in their career.
