Students Reveal Savings Research finds ways for the Department of Corrections to make better use of technology, save financial resources and improve inmate care Business students Chris McMahon and Trevor Severson, working with Business Professor Dr. Abey Kuruvilla, are researching ways for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC) to make better use of technology, save financial resources, and improve inmate care. They analyzed current health-care procedures within DOC, suggested lean approaches, and recommended value-added steps at every juncture in the process. The results could save Wisconsin millions of dollars each year, and plans for pilot locations are under way.
