The city of Girona The city of Girona has almost 100,000 inhabitants and is situated in the north east of Spain within the autonomous community of Catalonia and very near the border with France. It is half an hour from the Costa Brava and an hour from both the Pyrenees and the city of Barcelona, which are easily accessible by public transport (train, bus and an airport 15 minutes from the city centre).

Catalonia has two official languages, Catalan and Spanish. Most of the native population usually speaks Catalan, although everybody also understands and expresses themselves in Spanish. Many young adults speak English well enough to make themselves understood.

What to know about Girona Girona has all the charm of a large city but without the crowds; a striking and very ‘human-sized’ city with an amazing amount to offer its visitors: beautiful streets, festivals, cultural activities, restaurants, tourist services and events. Make the most of your visit at any time of year and if you can come more than once because the city is very much alive and there are always new things to surprise you. Come to Girona: you’ll love it! The modest size of the faculty means that students enjoy a PERSONALISED LEARNING EXPERIENCE. The course offers a combination of theoretical training and practical work experience in laboratories and clinics with expert teachers from the different areas. We have AGREEMENT S WITH 29 HEALTH CENTRES throughout Girona and some in Barcelona where students can gain CLINICAL WORK EXPERIENCE. The School of Nursing has agreements with various Spanish, European and American universities. Students use the LATEST TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS in their training. We also offer an official Masters in Health Promotion which leads to access onto the doctoral programme.

Degree in Nursing The philosophy of the School of Nursing All nursing activity is based on interpersonal relationships. Nurses provide people, families and the community with assistance where there is a shortfall in their basic needs or with other difficulties in their daily lives, and they encourage people to become independent users of the health and social services available to them. Action and team work with professionals from other disciplines within the health system are the two complementary areas that form the basis of their professional activity. Nursing professionals aim to provide healthy or ill people and/or the community with integral health care. Students must be motivated to learn (to gain knowledge) and have a certain aptitude for acquiring the skills that will allow them to carry out the care work involved in nursing (to know how to do), as well as demonstrate a willingness to establish appropriate human relationships (to know how to be).
