Professional Development Programming
We provide specialized training to enhance students’ business acumen. These workshops focus on improving both hard and soft skillsets. The Manager-level workshops include Resume Building, Interview Skills, LinkedIn Training and Dining Etiquette. There are also major-specific workshops that students can take to specialize in their respective fields such as Accounting Careers of Tomorrow, Technology in Business, Supply Chain Academy, Futures in Finance and more. On ground and virtual workshops available. There are three levels of participation: Manager, Director & Executive.
Fogelman Internship Network (FIN)
High-functioning portal similar to LinkedIn that garners FCBE Tiger Talent in one place. FIN connects students with top-tier business professionals and allows employers to connect outside of the classroom with students.
Crews Center for Entrepreneurship
A vital part of Memphis’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, the Crews Center for Entrepreneurship, develops young aspiring entrepreneurs into the community’s business leaders of tomorrow. Through workshops and programs, students gain entrepreneurial knowledge and skills to create start-ups and begin learning the process of building social, impact-oriented ventures from the ground-up.
ImagineU Program
Unique, immersive and intensive 12-week entrepreneurial experience in which students learn and live the early-stages of their entrepreneurship journey. This program pays participating students a $3,000 stipend.
Tiger Tank
Similar to ABC’s hit show, “ Shark Tank,” students attend a series of preparation workshops and/ or individual coaching sessions to create a threeminute video introducing an entrepreneurial idea to solve a significant market challenge. Finalists pitch ideas on stage before judges and a public audience to win a share of the $10,000 prize pool. In partnership with the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music.

FCBE Doctoral Degree Programs
Accounting
The Crews School of Accountancy PhD Program is designed to produce scholars who will conduct meaningful, original research that contributes significantly to knowledge within the accounting arena. Upon completion of the program, graduates are expected to demonstrate extensive understanding of the theoretical and research underpinnings of accounting. Our PhD program is designed to develop scholars who will contribute to the advancement of knowledge through cutting-edge research. During their PhD study, doctoral students become scholars from training in the classroom, by engaging in research projects and through relationships with faculty mentors. Faculty and students support each other’s scholarly pursuits.
Economics
The Economics concentration in the PhD program provides students with both the theoretical background and strong empirical skills necessary to be a professional economist. The strong analytical skills and extensive training in empirical methods using the latest econometric software make our graduates highly sought after. The basic curriculum includes microeconomic theory, macroeconomic theory and a research core including statistics and econometrics. Students then focus on a field of interest such as health economics or labor economics, among others.
Finance
The goal of the Finance PhD program is to prepare effective teachers and researchers. The department has a specialty in one of the most dynamic fields of finance—market microstructure. Other areas of emphasis such as corporate finance, FinTech, asset pricing, real estate, international finance and fixed income securities are also supported.
Management
The PhD program in Management is a full-time four-year research-oriented program. Majors are offered in organizational behavior/human resource management and strategic management/entrepreneurship. Research seminars are offered in human resource management, organizational behavior, organization theory, strategic management, entrepreneurship and research methods. The program trains students to publish theory-driven research in premier scholarly journals so that they can obtain research-oriented academic positions.
Management Information Systems
The PhD Program in Management Information Systems (MIS) is designed to foster students’ natural curiosity and enhance their ability to conduct meaningful and rigorous research. Our MIS group is committed to providing a supportive and collaborative research and teaching environment. From the first semester, PhD students are actively engaged in research projects with renowned faculty members. Throughout the program, students will develop essential research skills and gain hands-on experience with real-world projects under the guidance of leading researchers in the field.
Marketing
A PhD concentration in Marketing offers students the opportunity to become academic researchers and scholars in marketing. The coordinator of the doctoral program in Marketing works closely with each student to develop the course work and research programs to meet the student’s academic needs. Coursework includes state-of-the-art coverage of marketing theory and research methods. There is ample opportunity for students to develop their own special research and teaching interests in the functional areas of marketing.
