thank You TO OUR PARENTS, we want to thank you for all the love and support you’ve given us growing up. Your love has molded us into the people we are today. Most importantly, thank you for all the sacrifices you made for us, which is a constant reminder of the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus did for us on the cross. Thank you for praying for us and teaching us to grow in the fear of the Lord. We love you so much. TO OUR SPONSORS (godparents), we thank you for being there and witnessing the beginning of our unity through marriage. We are so honored to have you as our godparents and we are confident in our decision because you all have made a huge impact in our lives. We look up to you as role models and mentors and know that through your guidance and prayers, we will be strengthened as husband and wife, and in turn, it will also allow us to grow in our faith and walk with God. TO OUR BRIDAL PARTY, thank you for all your involvement in the whole wedding planning process, whether it was accommodating us during appointments, helping put things together, giving us advice, allowing us to vent, or just being there for moral support. We are so grateful. You are not only our bridal party, but a few of our closest friends and we are overjoyed that we had you standing alongside us at the altar. Last, but definitely not the least, OUR GUESTS. Thank you to those who travelled near and far and made arrangements to be with us on the most important day of our lives. It means the world. Each and everyone of you hold a special place in our hearts. Our wedding was a day we will never forget and we are so glad you were there to witness/celebrate this new chapter of our lives with us!

the Interview What was your first impression of each other?

F // I didn’t think much of him since we pretty

much grew up together. We had the same group of friends and he was just another guy at church to me.

R //

I thought she was really cute and I really liked her hair and smile. I thought she was super friendly, she was easy to talk to, and fun to be around.

WHAT DID YOU DO ON YOUR FIRST DATE?

F // He took me out to Red Robin on my actual 18th birthday (he told me he liked me during my cotillion, 4 days prior).

R // I remember I took her to Red Robin for our

first date and I still remember what we ordered and what she wore that day. Chicken tenders for her and

a chocolate milkshake for me. She wore a black and grey striped long sleeve, brown capri pants and hoop earrings.

WHO WAS THE FIRST TO SAY I LOVE YOU?

F // I think it was him. I honestly don’t remember when and how it happened. 10 years together is a long time.

R // I can say I am a 100% sure that it was me who said the 3 magic words first.

What’s the most interesting or surprising thing you’ve learned about each other since you’ve been together?

F // One of the most interestings things I’ve

learned about him is that he’s a big kid. He may

seem serious and shy on the outside, but he’s a big jokester. Its gotten to the point where sometimes I can’t tell if he’s joking or serious. He also has a really big imagination and is a really good storyteller. I think it’s all the gaming he does.

R // I learned that she likes to sleep on her

right side, on the very edge of the bed (we have a king) and she wakes me up when I snore too loud. I also learned that she squeezes the toothpaste tube in the middle instead of starting from the bottom (pet peeve).

What is one of your favorite memories together?

F // One of my favorite memories together

was definitely our honeymoon. It was our first time going on a vacation on our own, so it was a whole new experience for us. I’m also a huge planner, so it was nice being on vacation with no itinerary and just going with the flow.

R // When I took her to Davenport to pop

the question to marry me is for sure one of my favorite memories together. I could still remember how I felt each moment as the day was unfolding. Also, our wedding day and our honeymoon.

What do you love most about each other?

F // I love how patient and caring he is. He’s

a really good person and would not hesitate to help someone in need. I also love how he’s a big kid but knows when it’s time to be serious. He makes me laugh all the time and it reminds me to relax and be more carefree.

R // I love that she is a planner and is always

thinking ahead. She’s very caring and is always looking out/taking care of her family. I also love her creativity because it keeps things interesting. She’s always down to try a new recipe in the kitchen or plan something we’ve never done before. I’m always learning something new about her.

WHEN DID YOU KNOW YOU'D MET THE ONE?

F // I knew he was the one after he stuck

around during my lowest points in life. Also, he was my first and only boyfriend so I was a nagging girlfriend in the beginning of our relationship and he stayed patient with me as I

learned how to grow and mature in a relationship.

R // I knew she was the one after our 4th year

of dating. That was when I made sacrifices to step out of my comfort zone. It was then I learned that a relationship requires effort from both sides for it to work. From there I started finding myself doing things I would never think to do on my own to make her happy. That’s when I knew she was the one.

What’s next for you two?

F // We would love to travel first, which is

something we’ve always wanted to do. Then, in no particular order; own a business, purchase our first home, and start a family.

R // LOTS of things! Traveling, starting a business, change of careers, babies for sure, and hopefully a new house. Also, enjoying this wonderful blessing called marriage.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. // 1 CORINTHIANS 13: 4-8

Honeymoon

Majority of our honeymoon was spent in Hawaii. We spent the first few days in Maui, a first for the both of us. We stayed in a small town of Lahaina and enjoyed the quiet, relaxing island. The remainder of our time in Hawaii was spent in our favorite island of Oahu. We’ve been to Oahu a few times before, but it was our first time staying in the North Shore. It was definitely a different scene from Honolulu and Waikiki, but we enjoyed the beautiful countryside up north. The views, beaches, and nature of Hawaii never disappoints. Also, the food! We were 5 mins away from all the shrimp trucks in the North Shore. Shrimp trucks all day! We spent the remainder of our honeymoon on a road trip to Southern California before heading home. A few highlights were the WB Studio Tour in Burbank (we saw Central Perk and the FRIENDS set in real life! Our favorite show!) and rode a gondola in Newport Beach just in time for sunset.

Marriage is one of the most humbling, sanctifying journeys you will ever be a part of. It forces us to wrestle with our selfishness and pride. But it also gives us a platform to display love and commitment. // FRANCIS CHAN
