Equipment and Materials Most classes are supplied with all the necessary course materials. However, some classes may require that you purchase certain equipment or materials, such as a digital camera or specific art materials. These requirements are listed at the end of the course description or on your class receipt. For complete equipment recommendations, see our website or contact the program supervisor for details. Homework and Practice Time Some Digital Arts classes are project-based and require homework. These projects are useful for portfolio building. For computer classes, we recommend three hours of practice time for every hour in the classroom. If you do not have a computer or the related software, contact the program supervisor to schedule practice time. If you are pursuing a certificate program, owning a computer and the related software is highly recommended. Course Substitutions If you have prior experience or training in related topics, you may, at the department’s discretion, make appropriate course substitutions for required courses in a certificate program after undergoing a portfolio review. Contact the program supervisor to schedule an appointment. Fast Track Courses Fast Track courses are designed for those who already have some experience with the subject matter and need to review or enhance their skills, or for the very advanced computer user who needs a more fast-paced course. Online Courses Online courses are available in many Digital Arts topics, offered in partnership with Ed2Go, Gatlin and SkillSoft. Because our online offerings are not exact equivalents to our local classes, they are not approved for a certificate program. To view our current online courses, please see our website. Tutorial Electives If you have taken a Digital Arts class with us and would like a little more training with the instructor on that same topic or software, our two-hour Tutorial Elective would be a good option. Tutorial Electives are also useful for exam preparation or portfolio building. For more information or to schedule your Tutorial Elective, contact the program supervisor. Some prerequisites and restrictions apply. Cost for a Tutorial Elective is $199.

Applying for a Master Certificate Requirements There is no deadline for completing coursework for a master certificate. However, after two years, the requirements may change. Contact the program supervisor to ensure your requirements are up to date. Submissions To request a master certificate, email the program supervisor. Include your full name, mailing address, phone number, email address, certificate requested and a list of any approved course substitutions.
