In honor of the 25th anniversary of the Américas Award for Children's and Young Adult Literature (1993-2018), the Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs (CLASP) commissioned a toolkit to highlight resources and strategies for formal and informal educators alike, including K-12 teachers, outreach coordinators at higher education institutions, and librarians. The result is a 50+ page guide filled with reflections on the importance of the award and its place in the history of multicultural literature, supporting resources, and concrete programming examples drawn from individuals and organizations around the country. As a whole, it honors Latinx literature within and beyond the classroom and hopes to increase access to literature that empowers all students.
