J A ROD CER NOUSE K College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media Theatre Major / Student Ambassador As a freshman from a town 3 hours away, I always planned to live on campus. However, after seeing how nice the residence halls are at UNO, I was sold! Not only is my apartment up-to-date and spacious, but it provides an easy commute to all my classes. I simply wake up and have access to all the resources such as the library or gym right here. That’s probably why I’ve chosen to stay a resident all four years. You can’t beat the commute.

My favorite thing about living on campus has been the relationships I’ve been able to build. My closest friends are people I’ve met while living here and I wouldn’t have developed those friendships if it weren’t for having roommates and attending the various housing activities offered in my building.

| COST OF AT TENDENCE

FINANCIAL TOP 6 QUESTIONS ABOUT

There are a lot of options for offsetting the cost of education—from grants, scholarships, work aid, federal loans, and alternative loans. Talk to one of our financial aid representatives to find the solution that makes sense for you.

Q: When do I apply for financial aid?

Starting on October 1 of each year, students can access the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). • •

Q: Am I eligible to apply for financial aid? You are eligible to apply for and receive federal aid as long as you meet the following requirements: • • • • • •

U.S Citizen or eligible non-citizen Have a valid Social Security Number Have a high school diploma or equivalent (or will have one by the year you are receiving aid) Must be enrolled/planning to enroll in a degree seeking program Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress Not owe a refund on a federal student grant or be in default on a federal student loan

Complete the FAFSA to discover the types of aid that you qualify for. Students of all income levels may qualify for federal student loans, so we encourage any student who believes they will need assistance to apply.

Complete the correct FAFSA for the school year you’ll be enrolled and would like to receive aid in – for classes starting Fall 2022, the FAFSA is available October 2021. Complete the FAFSA before April 1 to receive priority consideration for all types of aid at UNO Renew your FAFSA every year to be eligible for aid for the each new school year

Q: How do I apply for financial aid? The U.S. Department of Education encourages students to use the online FAFSA form at fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA requires income information from 2 years prior to the academic year that you are applying. The IRS Data Retrieval Tool is available as a fast, secure, and easy method of reporting tax information on the FAFSA by directly transferring data from the IRS into your FAFSA. We encourage all students to use this tool.

HOW TO TRANSFER TO UNO Adult Learners There’s no need to navigate the college search and admission process alone. The Division of Continuing Studies (DCS) offers a flexible, individualized degree program, ideal for adults 21 and older. Students interested in the Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies program are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor to receive a free unofficial transfer credit evaluation.
