“Why is Kofi Annan not a woman?” Followed by a discussion with Osnat Lubrani, Director of UNIFEM Brussels.

About Osnat Lubrani:
On Women’s Day 2006, Kofi Annan said, “the world is ready for a woman SecretaryGeneral.” However in its 60 year history no woman has yet led the United Nations. "Why is Kofi Annan not a woman?" aims at exploring gender and leadership issues within the United Nations and the advancements made so far within this area.
Osnat Lubrani is the Director of the newly established UNIFEM office in Brussels responsible for UNIFEM’s relations with EU institutions and European governments. Ms. Lubrani also concurrently serves as Programme Director for Central and Eastern Europe at UNIFEM. Previously she helped set up and manage the United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence against Women.
