INSIGHT MAGAZINE Blogger Submission Guidelines
So, you’re interested in running a blog of your own. You’ve been following some of the most entertaining, engaging personalities on the internet and now you’re ready to give it a shot. If you’re looking to get your start as a blogger, Insight Magazine is looking to help.
1. Content must be original, unique, and engaging. Ask yourself: what will people take from my work? Who cares about this topic? 2. Blog posts must be well-organized, conversational in tone, and pertinent to the students of the University of Nevada. Does your piece inform the readers, give insight into a topic of interest to Insight’s audience, or entertain them in a manner that enriches their artistic sensibilities? 3. The word-count of your posts should be between 500 to 1500 words. Posts should be concise, but sufficiently comprehensive. It is preferred that your work be submitted in AP style; our editors will be happy to help you with any formatting or style questions you may have. 4. Blog posts should incorporate multimedia elements. Writers should include photos, hyperlinks, videos, graphics, or other elements that will enhance the reader’s experience and enrich their understanding of the topic. Multimedia should, naturally, be related to the topic being discussed. Again, our editors will be happy to assist you in polishing your work. 5. Is this a one-shot story, or would you like a regularly featured blog? Let us know. Bloggers interested in writing a featured blog for Insight Magazine’s website should indicate their interest in doing so when contacting us; we’d be happy to work with you. Those interested in submitting guest articles to Insight’s weblog are encouraged to contact us with their story ideas as well. Though we give preference to Nevada students, anyone may submit their work to us. We have a genuine and vested interest in the stories of our community. If you think that you’re ready to start a blog of your own, or if you’d just like to give it a shot, e-mail a letter of intent and writing sample to Blogs@UNRInsight.com with your pitch. We can’t wait to hear from you.
