KAMARAN MOHAMMAD ALUMNI BA14
The love and affection that many individuals formerly had can be seen in this painting. Prior to air raids, Kurdish life was thriving with joy and enjoyment. The town of Halabja was attacked with chemical weapons by Iraqi jets on March 16, 1988. At least 5000 people died, 7000 were left with severe injuries, some of whom are still receiving medical care. For those who have been able to escape and recuperate physically, the ladder presented in the upper right corner serves as a symbol of hope. This incident had an impact on animals in addition to the grieving people and the suffering many people experienced. Both plants and animals were completely destroyed. In contrast to the destroyed land painted in drab hues, the paintings warm colours symbolizes springtime and nature.
