Debbie Hamlett T
here’s so much to be proud of as we round the final corner in the year 2023.
We wrapped up a successful 65th anniversary year of celebration in October. This included an exhibit of our history and a documentary featuring the challenges and achievements of Milwaukee PBS. Our talented teams finished many local productions covering the people, places and culture of Milwaukee and Southeastern Wisconsin. You can now stream Milwaukee PBS through our website and a variety of streaming services like YouTubeTV, Hulu, and Local Now. Looking forward to 2024, locally, we’ll be producing content leading up to the RNC, you’ll see local stories on climate issues, a new podcast will launch in February on domestic violence, the Milwaukee Symphony and Violent Femmes will broadcast nationally, (date to be determined) and our newest documentary AL CAPONE: PROHIBITION IN WISCONSIN will air in January with never before seen photos of the Manitowish Waters.
CELTIC WOMAN: 20TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT
Nationally, Henry Louis Gates will dedicate two nights to THE STORY OF GOSPEL (Feb.), NOVA will celebrate its 50th anniversary and feature a program called THE RISE OF AI in March, season 4 will premiere for both SCARLET & THE DUKE and ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL, and a new drama premieres entitled FUNNY WOMAN. The program is about a small town beauty queen in the 1960’s who dares to have bigger dreams and follow in the footsteps of her idol, Lucille Ball.
Celebrate 20 years of spectacular Irish music with a new concert filmed at the Helix in Dublin. With fan favorites, new arrangements, and stirring originals, this emotional evening features a stellar lineup of eight world-class Celtic Women.
All of this and so much more, only with your support! We know you depend on us to be your window to the world. To bring you the best in science, nature, music, trusted children’s programs, the arts and news of the day.
12/1 at 7PM on 10.1
YOU play an essential role in our ability to provide you and your neighbors trusted, quality programs. Thank you for all you do to keep Milwaukee PBS strong!

From all of us at Milwaukee PBS, have a wonderful holiday season.

LETTERS TO SANTA CELEBRATES WINTER WONDERLAND
MILWAUKEE PBS December Program Highlights
I
t’s December and that means LETTERS TO SANTA is back for all to enjoy. For more than 50 years Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) television students have created this delightful Christmas special. This year’s theme is Winter Wonderland featuring a North Pole festival and the very competitive Elfympics! In addition, area children get to meet Santa and share their Christmas wishes. It truly showcases the spirit of the season. From concept to the broadcast, MATC television and video production students assume the roles of professional broadcasters to imagine, write, produce, promote and get the fivepart series on Milwaukee PBS. This hands-on experience is priceless for these students.
AGATHA CHRISTIE: LUCY WORSLEY ON THE MYSTERY QUEEN
SEASON OF LIGHT: CHRISTMAS WITH THE TABERNACLE CHOIR
3 part series beginning 12/3 7PM 10.1

Lucy Worsley explores the enigma of Agatha Christie. Over three episodes, she applies her historian's powers of investigation to the Queen of Crime. And she uncovers a complex woman whose life - and work - reflects the upheavals of the 20th century.
The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square join with award winning artists Lea Salonga and Sir David Suchet for Season of Light: Christmas with The Tabernacle Choir, a festive and uplifting Christmas special. This concert will illuminate your holiday experience with timeless carols, treasured songs, and a story of heroic service.
“LETTERS TO SANTA really benefits the students in our program because it is really our first opportunity to do a full broadcasted series,“ said Jacie Griffith, Series Coordinating Producer. “I think it really gives students a reality check of just how much goes into a production from top to bottom.” Watch LETTERS TO SANTA beginning on Monday, December 18 through December 22 at 12:30 PM on Milwaukee PBS 10.1. Viewers can also watch a marathon of all five episodes beginning on Friday, December 22 at 10:30 AM and on Saturday, December 23 at 9:00 AM on Milwaukee PBS 10.1. Don’t miss this heartwarming Christmas special on Milwaukee PBS this December or stream on demand at milwaukeepbs.org.
MARY BERRY'S HIGHLAND CHRISTMAS
In this enchanting holiday special, beloved home cook Dame Mary Berry is heading to the Highlands on a winter break, cooking up some truly indulgent dishes that can be enjoyed anytime over the festive season. But this isn’t just any Christmas — it's deeply meaningful for Mary because she’s spending it in her mother’s homeland, Scotland. Sprinkled amid the abundance of rich cultural delights will be Mary reflecting on her heritage with fascinating anecdotes about her Scottish roots. And she’s not going alone — accompanying her on this magical adventure will be special guests who’ll make this a Christmas to remember. 12/18, 8PM 10.1 Courtesy of Mark Mainz

Milwaukee PBS Travel Program Season Review
A
nother wonderful Milwaukee PBS Summer-Fall travel season has ended, and we can't help but feel grateful for all the beautiful places we were able to visit and the experiences we shared with our travel partners and fellow travelers. We embarked on an adventure to England with the All Creatures Tour trip, where we explored the serene villages, grand homes, and locations of some of our favorite PBS programs such as CALL THE MIDWIFE, GRANTCHESTER, and ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL. From the picturesque Yorkshire Dales to the stunning Peak District, it was an unforgettable journey. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our travel partnership with Transcendent Travel for making it all possible.
Thank you to Profit For You Tours, who provided memorable domestic trips. We marveled at the stunning natural beauty of the Mississippi River as we cruised aboard the Riverboat Twilight and visited Historic Guttenberg in Iowa. We immersed ourselves in nature at Stout's Island Lodge. We explored the historic Cook-Rutledge Mansion. We visited the DeSoto House and the home of President Ulysses S. Grant. We witnessed impressive planes at the National Museum of The United States Air Force, the Carillon Historical Park, and Hawthorn Hill. We visited Steeple Square, the Fannie Stout House, the impressive Oliver Mansion, the fascinating vehicle history at the Studebaker National Museum, and so much more. We are grateful to all who joined us on these wonderful adventures. Sign up for our next trip and create memories that will last a lifetime.
