Editor's Note The season of fall is a season of change in some parts of America, but from the seat, I sit in, there is no season of fall. To understand the seasons is quite amazing that the trees shed their leaves and they don't die but it is a dormant time where everything is silent in preparation for the next season. Our season of change is one that makes us grow as we await the new season. The leaves on the ground are pretty with radiant colors, yet at the same time, the trees remain bare. In Kenya right now this is the season of growth. We have short rains and thus it is time for the crops to grow and flowers to bloom. This makes me understand that despite the leaves falling and the rains in Africa, we are walking into a great season and it is my prayer that you will be prepared for your next season of greatness. In this edition, you will read from amazing women about their entrepreneurial journey and business tips to help you "FOCUS AND FINISH STRONG" - Dr. Carmen Thomas Onyona Oyengo Editor-in-Chief

Kick-Start your business requires you to have all the tools in order. These tools needed will help organize and track the financial data. For example, a noted book, mobile phone, or scanner. These tools can be used in your personal area of life. Here are just a few Tips to Kick Start the financial side of your business.
Tips:
To Kick-Start requires the individual to track and monitor the business finances. 1. Set up a checking and saving account for the business. Always require dual signatures on the checks. (Protection from Fraud) This not only is a tool used for the flowing in and out of funds. It is a primary source for tracking the ins and outs of financial transactions. 2. All receipts for purchase items should be scanned to a file within your computer, or use a mobile app to scan and store receipts or use a tickler file to store the receipts too. This allows for the detailed tracking of expenses that will not be documented on other documents 3. t is important to track all incoming sales and cash. For example, Name of Purchaser or Donor. The date of sales or receipt of cash. The product or service sold. The reason for the donation. Ex: Fundraiser to take a trip or build a school. Master the habit of keeping records of all the activities that affects the financial side of the Business or Non-Profit. This is one Brick to building a solid financial foundation.

DANCING IN THE STREETS Jen McClure
I love this pic. Not because I look awesome. But because I don't feel awesome & took the pic anyway. My struggle to regain a healthy body is the last bastion/stronghold leftover from my season of depression. Let's face it. God healed me 3 years ago & I'm still carrying around an extra 50 lbs. Moreover, when I WAS 50 lbs. smaller (my goal weight), I wasn't happy then either. Thought I was too fat. Houston, clearly we have a problem. Here's why I love this pic. It's a reminder of grace. That beauty is not "someday when I'm thinner, or have a better wardrobe & haircut". Influence & the chance to make a difference are not for "someday when I am wiser, more organized, or have the right bank account, skill set, title or degree". Last time I looked, "someday" is NOT a day of the week. I love that we took this pic on the street, which reminds me that it's a journey. We're all striving for something & we're all called to something, whether we realize it or not. We all have gifts, talents, & opportunities. And someday we will need to account for how we stewarded them. Between the "now" & the "not yet"...that's when it's tough. That's when the real work happens, day in & day out, largely unseen & rarely applauded. That's when we lean on faith. Faith is not a passive thing. In fact, laying aside our desire for control, comparing, chasing that ever-elusive "perfection"...it may be the toughest battle we ever fight. It requires humility, diligence, accountability, connectedness. All the stuff that makes life beautiful. Yet it's the stuff that gets tossed aside like a rag doll...by distractions, greed, arrogance, fear, (fill in your own blank). Till one day you put on a little black dress, chubby legs & all, & you decide to celebrate WHO YOU ARE BECOMING. That day you leave the roads called Not Good Enough Avenue & You Don't Matter Boulevard, & you get on a new road called FAITH & COURAGE. That's the day you lock arms with the God Who has always chosen to let His grace shine most brightly through the cracks of broken vessels. The God Who calls you by name & laid out your journey before time began. The God Whose plans & timing are always perfect. The season when we're waiting for who we're "supposed to be"…don't squander it. Don’t wish it away. While we're waiting, let's work, worship, listen, laugh, serve, celebrate, & yes, grab a few friends & dance in the street! #lovewell #gracewins www.unstoppablewomensempire.com | 5
LISA YOUNG OWNER EXPRESS EMPLOYMENT PROFESSIONALS
Q1. Did you have a team or system in place? Because Express Employment is an International Franchise with over 800 offices throughout the US, Canada, and South Africa there is a system in place that when followed and with daily effort success of the local franchise will be possible. You first have to have the right vehicle (meaning business you are passionate about) and know what is needed to drive it forward successfully and when road bumps happen how to adjust. And yes there is a team in place that should understand the vision of the office because they help to carry it forth. Also, Having processes and consistency is key in running and maintaining any business
Q2. How do you stay focused?
For our business, it is being intentional with meeting baseline metrics and more importantly knowing what they are for your business to flourish. For instance, how many sales dials to make, how many quality calls to make, and what other daily goals it takes to run your business with intention.
Q3. What Secret Sauce can you share to help other Queens get started?
First, you must know yourself and have unwavering faith that you can be successful. Having mentors and supporters is key (for me this was my mom-my biggest cheerleader) Do your homework, learn as much as possible about the industry you want to go into then step out Test the waters and I can assure you God will navigate you while on your journey. I had many barriers yet it was my foundation in believing in God, trusting the process, and understanding that there would be peaks and valleys and that his spirit was there through them all Most Importantly Queens!! Look in the mirror daily and pump yourself up. You Got this! www.unstoppablewomensempire.com | 6
NICOLE WEBSTER FOUNDER QUEENS, PRINCESS TO QUEENS
Q1. Did you have a team or system in place?
Currently, I work as an Operations Director for a small non-profit organization, a Department Head, a founder for an in-school alternative behavioral program, and founder for a small nonprofit after-school program and Saturday Bootcamp for young ladies in 4th-12th grade and now some college freshmen and sophomores. The name of that organization is called Princess to QUEENS. I’m also in the midst of re-engineering my makeup artistry business Imochanel Designs Unlimited, LLC into a retail wholistic full circle women’s 360 degree, styling, wellness, fitness, and design business When I first began to do all of the jobs all at once I had no system and no knowledge that I even needed a system. I did the work and actually worked myself sick to the point where I was forced to create a plan and a system. It was one of the best and the worst times of my life, but it was a learning lesson that I’m still mastering. I’m finding the rhythm and system that work best for me. Using wisdom from those who have created and continue to maintain their system. It’s a work in progress but it’s much better than it was when I began. I’m 15 years into working as an Operations Director for the non-profit and in year 8 of leading my own non-profit. My system is unique to my needs and continues to change and evolve as I do. Be open to create and recreate the right system that works for you. Be honest with what you can handle and be humble to ask for help. Only in the last two years have I had a team. We are developing our system by really taking our time. Delving into job descriptions, checklists, meetings, specific tasks and assignments, and follow-ups. We currently did an activity that caused us to be honest with what our brutal truths are about how we work. We plan to take one brutal truth one at a time and create “from to shifts”, outlining where we are now and what we want to shift to so that we can change the problem areas to successes and make the successful areas even more successful. Again it’s a work in progress and we are doing what works best for us.
Q2. How do you stay focused?
I make jokes about my prayer closet being this little bathroom right to the left of my old office. Actually, it’s really how I’ve gotten through some of the toughest days at work. I would take moments to collect myself in “my prayer closet” many days when I felt overwhelmed. I had to pray and really ask The Lord to guide me to focus my mind and my heart in the direction they needed to be to get me focused. I’ve since learned the art of saying no and not trying to prove that I’m superwoman by taking on more than I can truly handle. That’s a big key to staying focused. Being cluttered down with so many things keeps us from being focused on the main thing! I’ve also adopted some physical ways to keep my focus intact as well. Deep breathing has proven to be a game-changer for me. I learned that I wasn’t breathing properly and I tend to hold my breath when stressed. Try this: place both feet on the floor. Use one finger to place over your right nostril. Deep breath in and let it out slowing by counting to 10. Do the same with the other nostril. You deserve to get your full breaths in. Take time to take care of yourself and it will definitely help your focus.
Q3. What Secret Sauce can you share to help other Queens get started?
Find your rhythm. We are all different with unique qualities and abilities. Don’t be afraid to glean ideas from others in order to create the special recipe that works well for you. Just as when cooking you may like the recipe but some of the ingredients might not fit your taste. Change it up and be open to recreate and reinvent what’s necessary for you to be your best. The main thing is to get started!!! What are you waiting for Queen? You got this and He has you. Let’s go!!! You truly are unstoppable!! www.unstoppablewomensempire.com | 7

PHEBEIT INGRAM PRESIDENT/ SENIOR EVENT DESIGNER ELEVEN11 EVENTS GROUP
Q1. Did you have a team or system in place? At the time of acquisition, I had a team of myself, 2 of my adult children, and my oldest child’s wife. It was a family affair when we started and we were all geeked about it. I owned 50% and the other 50% was split between the 3. The business has since transitioned to me owning 75% and my oldest 25%. Having a team in place was a good start but entrepreneurship isn’t for the faint of heart and some members of my team found it hard to sacrifice their time while working a 9-5 too. For me, it wasn’t and still isn’t work. Don’t get me wrong It was hard and I put in long tedious hours but it never felt like work.
Q2. How do you stay focused?
Staying focus is not hard when you’re passionate about what you do. For me, it’s about prioritizing what needs to get done. Spending time on the right stuff is so important. I could easily get lost in designing when I needed to be invoicing or creating content for social media, working on taxes, or answering emails. I use to do all the stuff that came easy first and put the difficult tasks or the stuff I wasn’t familiar with on pause. But this girl boss couldn’t continue to do that and be successful. Learning how to attack the stuff that comes along with being a business owner by prioritizing was not fun to do and was definitely a growing pain.
Q3. What Secret Sauce can you share to help other Queens get started?
My Secret Sauce is definitely being an early riser. I always considered myself a night owl and rarely got up before 11 am if I didn’t have to. I loved to sleep it was one of my favorite things to do. But what you need to know and this is very important!!! The early bird really does get the worm!! My God started calling for me to get up early and boy did I fight it. I have to be really careful cause even now I can slip back into that slothful, slumbering state. God forbid. I take that back. I will not go back. Anyway, God told me to read Hal Elrod’s book Miracle Morning. In there is mentioned a lot of successful ppl who started there days very early. I was very motivated by this but my pillow was still calling my name. God kept tugging on my spirit to rise up and start my day with him in prayer. So after a big temper tantrum and realizing that things in my business were not moving at the pace I desired. I finally obeyed the voice of God and began my day in prayer at 7 am. For me, that was early. God began ordering my steps, directing my paths, and giving me innovative ideas. I now get up at 5:15 am to start my days. I exercise and Inquire of Holy Spirit daily. God speaks to me prophetically and plans my days. My Secret Sauce is rising early, praying and hearing from God on how to operate my business. In doing this I have learned(with a lot of help and inspiration from groups and clubhouse rooms) that this business is my ministry!! I am finally walking in my God-given destiny! For this, I was made! I have found my niche! I know without a shadow of a doubt that I am supposed to help people celebrate by designing beautiful spaces for them to enjoy their special day, their milestone event, or their celebration of life. By choosing Eleven 11 Events rest assured we will exceed your expectations. We make dreams come true! www.unstoppablewomensempire.com | 9
DARA MAYHOE CEO LUVCOVERS
Q1. Did you have a team or system in place? I absolutely have a team and a system for everything. I highly believe in delegation I delegate a team leader for every aspect of my life from business and even down to domestic duties, it helps to give balance to my demanding schedule.
Q2. How do you stay focused?
A very wise friend once told me to be specific about making time for things even if it means going to bed later or waking up earlier when my family is still asleep. I block out a certain time as well as a certain amount of time to do various tasks. I often find other workspaces that provide an environment conducive to the success of the project I am working on. Sometimes my office gets a little too busy with the phone ringing so I will go down to Panera bread or the library just for a change of scenery.
Q3. What Secret Sauce can you share to help other Queens get started? Just go for it! Be fair with yourself, set fair and attainable goals that will keep you encouraged and motivated along the way! sometimes if we set goals that Are too long term we lose motivation so set a long-term goal but also allow for many small steps that help you get to the big one and you will succeed in excellence!

TRENA BRANNON FOUNDER
BRANNON ART
Q1. Did you have a team or system in place? My system is how I manage my time/calendar, which helps keep me focused. My time for my day job is for working on my job. Non-job time is my time to organize, which does include making time for family and me. My family knows that I have a side business and understands that I am committed to it. I work hard to be in the moment of where I am, thus I always have my phone or pencil and paper to write down ideas that pop in my head so I won’t be distracted by trying to remember it. :) I schedule time for myself as if I am meeting with someone else - an hour here, an hour there. About once a quarter, I schedule a mental-health vacation day from work and do something relaxing.
Q2. How do you stay focused?
When I decided the direction I wanted to go with my art (and it took me a long time), I thought about the why. When you know why you are working towards something important to you, it helps give you energy and focus - knowing that this “thing” I’m doing right now, I might not like it but I KNOW it is moving me towards where I want to be! A couple of years ago I started scheduling for the year.* In December, I take out a large piece of paper divided into boxes for each month. I write down everything I know is happening for the year - including family events, conferences I want to attend, vacations/staycations, etc… I write down my big goals for the year, then break those down into monthly goals by the month, then break those down into daily tasks. Based on those tasks, I write down the three things I need to get done today to move my progress forward and set time to work on them first. I know that I may not yet know how to achieve that big goal yet, so one of my monthly goals may be to do research on how to achieve that goal. It’s important to leave open time for some flexibility and to breathe. You don’t have to fill every moment. Say no to things/opportunities that will put my commitments in jeopardy. I know this is a hard one sometimes great opportunities present themselves when you are already committed to a project. One of your biggest assets is your ability to deliver a quality product/service per agreement. Based on that, you will get repeat customers and referrals. Reduce activities and distractions that will take you away from a commitment you have made. An example is an email - how much time do you spend in your inbox every day? How many lists are you still on that do not match your goals (business, family or joy points). It’s ok to unsubscribe or perhaps use filters to move unimportant messages and read them at a later time.

TRENA BRANNON FOUNDER
BRANNON ART
Q3. What Secret Sauce can you share to help other Queens get started?
I don’t know that these things are secrets, more like practices that help guide you. Now more than ever, there are many things that distract us, impact our spirit and focus. The reality is there are few things that are in our direct control. God has the Master Plan - we just need to remember that. You can do anything you set your heart to, however, you cannot do everything. I say that to you sisters with love and respect to each of you. Write down your goals and you're why, and look at them every day. Put them next to your affirmations - it all goes together! When you set your goals, think about if they are realistic in the timeline you have chosen. Also, allow yourself the grace to reschedule when needed - the important thing is that you are moving forward in the direction you want to go. Break up your tasks into smaller pieces. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with a large task. When I break it down into reasonable actions for progress, I have a better chance of getting it done. Find a community that understands you - one that energizes you that you can contribute to, where you all lift each other up and encourage one another. I hold this dearly and this is what I tell the children in my family that goes off to college - every day...make healthy food choices and get some type of physical activity to give you energy, make sure you allow time for sleep to refresh your mind, pray as many times as you need to. You can follow all the tips, tricks, shortcuts, and experts, but if your mind, body, and spirit are weak, you will not enjoy your success.

DEBORAH ALLEN FOUNDER / CEO
SPOTLIGHT LIPSTICK
Q1. Did you have a team or system in place? I am presently building a team. A team is important to maintain checks and balances of the business. Right now, I rely on automatization/scheduling apps to keep things running smoothly.
Q2. How do you stay focused?
Staying focus and staying on task is challenging when you have a 9-5 career. Three days a week in the evening I do nothing but work on my business. I have dinner with my husband and retreat to my home office. It takes time to get a routine so I try not to beat myself down if something or someone throws off my schedule. I just repeat my steps/goals/affirmation and get back on task.
Q3. What Secret Sauce can you share to help other Queens get started? As for a “secret sauce,” that’s you. No one can be you, there isn’t another you, and people really do want to know you and your business. What’s your mission, what’s your purpose, who are you helping and then go find your tribe. Don’t get bogged down on “everyone is doing this or selling that.” Everyone ain’t you sis!
Business advice I live by - Research, Plan and then Implement. Don’t implement an unresearched plan.

DR. CARMEN THOMAS FOUNDER / CEO
UNSTOPPABLE WOMEN'S EMPIRE
Q1. Did you have a team or system in place? Yes, I have a team and a system in place for my personal and professional space. I have hired an executive virtual assistant(s) to assist me with my business task and we work from a monthly calendar to keep all the projects flowing smoothly, we communicate twice a month unless we are working on the quarterly magazine which requires us to have more facetime before the articles are published. My calendar plan includes communicating with business members weekly, providing them with updates, and a link to schedule monthly coaching sessions. Using the tools that are automated keeps my life organized. In my day career, I identify my teams strengths, trust them and allow them to lead with their gifts/strengths and together we make it happen for our organization. In my home I have a professional to assist with cleaning my home twice a month, this frees up my time to do the things I need to do to develop myself professionally and take care of my husband. My husband and I have a wealth date every Saturday to talk about investments, network, net worth value, future plans and relationship/intimacy.
Q2. How do you stay focused? I try to Practice Emotional Intelligence daily. I stay focused on the solutions by creating the goals I want to achieve for the next 1-5 years, then I develop small sections with words of affirmations added to my personal space, including the end result. I invest in myself with mentors, coaches, books, seminars, monthly networking groups to grow myself personally and professionally. I try to apply something new to my life each week that benefits and enhances my today and tomorrow. I also had to learn how to be wise with my time by not trying to be present at every event, learning to say “no” and valuing my time has given me the freedom to focus on what’s most important for my life.
Q3. What Secret Sauce can you share to help other Queens get started?
Start off my day by reading my Bible, spending time with God to receive my instructions for the day. Commanding my day! Knowing who I am and what I’m great at! Staying in my lane, trusting God to perfect me to do the greater works that I’m assigned to. Finishing my day, by unplugging from the cares of the world by 8:30 and intimate quiet time with the VIP’s in my life. www.unstoppablewomensempire.com | 14

PRACTICING SELF-CARE IS NECESSARY
Practicing self-care daily is necessary for our wellbeing. As we face the ups and downs in life, in addition to adjusting to a new way of maneuvering in the day-today during a pandemic, you and I must find ways to practice self-care and live a balanced life. What is self-care? To me, self-care is the daily activities we intentionally do to care for ourselves mentally, physically, spiritually, financially, socially, and emotionally towards better health. When events occur beyond our control, we must find healthy ways to respond in those moments and beyond. Here are a few ways to practice self-care: Drink infused water. Go for a walk. Pray and meditate. Workout. Take a bike ride. Get a massage. Read a book. Soak your feet. Write and recite affirmations. Save $5 a week and deposit it into your savings account. It is important to practice self-care daily for the betterment of your well-being. For additional practical self-care tips, please pick up my book called The Silent Disruptor; How Practicing Self-Care Daily Can Help Break the Silence . Now available on Amazon at amzn.to/3iEOg5E.
