Caring can impact on all aspects of life and some carers neglect their own needs because they put their caring responsibilities first. Around one in 10 people are undertaking some type of caring role at any given time. Support is available to help those caring for someone else to look after themselves, too. Carer Support Dorset offers practical support and advice whether you’ve been caring for many years or have recently started supporting someone. It can also help with accessing a Carers Assessment, which gives you an opportunity to talk through your situation with a Carers Caseworker to identify your support needs and how these might be addressed so that your quality of life, and that of the person you are caring for, remains the best it can be. A Carers Assessment results in a reviewable plan to ensure you are getting all the help you should.
