Bristol Bears visit King Arthur’s
In January, Premiership rugby team the Bristol Bears visited King Arthur’s School as part of their outreach work and HITZ flagship education and employability programme. Nick George and Ben Woolfson used rugby’s core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship throughout their session with key stage three students. The aim was to help students realise the importance of the ‘soft skills’ that occur in rugby and all things PE, when studying other subjects, training, apprenticeships and/or employment in the future. Students played many games of conditioned rugby to help them realise the value of transferable skills they gain through the medium of sport, such as communication, resilience, teamwork, leadership, empathy, co-operation and respect to name a few. Ling Arthur students loved the sessions and in addition to the rugby’s core values developing the personal skills, life skills and employability skills, some students have since hinted they may even now look to join external rugby clubs! Student Filip said “It was nice to meet the players/ coaches and hear them sharing their knowledge about different careers and pathways to take.”

SEXEY’S SCHOOL OFFERS ‘GOOD’ BOARDING AT AN AFFORDABLE COST
One of the first questions parents ask when considering sending their children to boarding school is how much will it cost.
Sexey’s School in Bruton offers an affordable alternative to independent boarding for boys and girls aged 11 to 18 as parents only need to cover the cost of boarding – typically around two-thirds less than independent schools, equating to around £4,000 a term (£12,000 a year). For those living close to the school a new part-time boarding offer allows students to board up to two nights a week giving busy families a better work-life balance.

The school offer a wide range of subjects and has a proven record of success. Students not only achieve excellent academic qualifications, but also enjoy a wide range of extracurricular activities and receive outstanding pastoral care.
