Verdant Visage is a response to the development of Westmead and Parramatta of visual connection supplemented elements that extend the green corridor two growing urban hubs.

The defining feature of the project is plan separated by a lush courtyard. enables prospect refuge towards Westmead Parramatta, whereas the central courtyard as a key public space for the community. of the central courtyard is further accentuated series of colonnades encapsulating the court.

The brief called for a library in the heart of Westmead which would accommodate a range of activities: library space, theatrette and gallery. The multifunctional nature of the brief called for programmatic flexibility within the spaces in order to transform and successfully host different events. This flexibility keeps the space alive, provoking curiosity for passersby and allowing free-flowing interactions.

Smaller rectangular volumes are connected to an irregular central volume that serves as a place to meet. This is evident on the ground floor where two adjacent entrances meet at the reception, as well as the second floor where a central roof terrace encourages social encounters and connections.

Library space usage is separated by the formation of furniture. Spaces that have large tables and lounges promote group work, while linear tables that surround parts of the building perimeter promote a quiet space for concentration and independent work. The theatrette takes over the eastern rectangular volume and acts as an offering to the public as outsiders can look into the space like a ‘performance’.
