A Letter from the VP of Recruitment and Retention As the Spring comes to a close, we are in full swing preparing for our upcoming Fall recruitment. This is a very exciting time for all panhellenic women because we are preparing to welcome home some fabulous new women into our chapters. Recruitment is a huge process and not one person can do it all on their own. This year, our recruitment team has 20 amazing women on it that are dedicated to Panhellenic and ready to help in every way possible to make this recruitment our most successful one yet! We have been working hard in our classes learning all of the ropes of recruitment and having fun as well. I could not be more happy to work with such a great group and I am excited to see what all we accomplish together over the summer and in the Fall! Stay tuned! -Tori Lynskey VP of Recruitment and Retention

Alternative Spring Breaks

Many sisters spent their spring breaks giving back instead of a traditional spring break. Five panhellenic women participated in the Greek life alternative spring break by rebuilding houses in New Orleans. Those five women were Roni Fraser and Hillary Mendez from Zeta Tau Alpha, Caity Chegwidden from Delta Gamma, Barrett Cole from Chi O, and Andrea Loften from Kappa Kappa Gamma. Another group of panhellenic woman spent their week volunteering at Camp Summit, a camp that provided a barrier-free outdoor experience to promote personal growth and foster independance for children and adults with disablilities. The group of women were Nadine Fares from Kappa Delta, Liz Smith from Pi Beta Phi, Kristan Marquez a Rho Gamma and Sarah Sober from Panhellenic Exec.

Tips for the Month Risk Management Hello, My name is Ashley Hargrove and I am your First Vice President on the Panhellenic Executive Board at the University of North Texas. My position includes the responsibility of upholding Risk Management efforts throughout our council. With it being a busy time of year for all of us it is important to remember to slow down and stay safe. Eating healthy and getting a good amount of sleep are things that will help you immensely when you are stressed out. These are things we tend to forget about or set to the side but make sure you hold these tasks as important as studying for your tests or getting that assignment finished. Time management will definitely be able to help you with this so try and do your best to plan out your week before it starts so you’re not hit with extra amounts of stress throughout the week. So remember to stay calm and take things one at a time during this stressful time of the year. Sincerely, Ashley Hargrove First Vice President

l l a C l l Ro The Alpha Delta Pi’s were very busy over spring break. We had sisters travel near and far. One Sister visited Shanghai, China where she spent part of her childhood. Other sisters spent time on the beach in Gulf Shores and South Padre. We also had sisters stay close by and visit the local lakes. Others spent time at home with family, enjoying their relaxation time. We all enjoyed our time off to recuperate and take a break. We came back ready to tackle Mocktails Week and Greek Week.

Alpha Phi is sad to see this year coming to an end but we have an enjoyed a semester full of fun! This month we had our Big/little reveal for our spring new member class. We had fun supporting the Mean Green at Greek out the Game for Greek Week. We also initiated our spring pledge class. During Greek Week we had fun watching our sisters dance at Eagle Escapades and our beautiful president performing a lip sync. Our team played games together at Greek Games and was so happy to recieve the academic awards we did at Greek Awards! We are ready to complete the last full month of the semester!

Chi Omega has been up to a lot this past March. With the season of spring in mind the chapter has been more active then ever and has focused all its efforts on strengthening an already solid and fun sisterhood. This past month we participated in an event that our Sisterhood chair, Ellen Gorman put together for the chapter. We went and played laser tag for a full day and hung out around a bonfire afterwards where sisters got to know more about each other. With community service in mind we got together for our Cookies for Cops event where we baked treats for the police. During this event we invited over officers to talk about safety on campus. Over Spring Break, girls hung out together and relaxed on the beaches of Alabama and California, visited friends in Washington D.C., went hiking in Colorado, and took some time off to be at home with their parents. Chi Omega members were also involved in a lot outside of the chapter and in Greek life with events like Kappa Krawfish and Greek out the Game. All in all it is shaping up to be a great month for Chi Omega!

This month, Delta Gamma has been working hard on Greek Week with team members, held several sisterhood events and put on a second successful tabling event. Two members put together their second annual event called “Delta Gorgeous,” where they offer fashion tips and advice to other members. Another member has been leading HIIT workouts in the chapter room every Friday. Both of these successful events are a fun, bonding experience that we hope to continue. VP Foundation planned our second tabling event of the semester, “Delta Gamma Dog Treats.” Members sold both cookies and dog treats; all proceeds went to benefit Guide Dogs of North Texas. Last, VP Social Standards dedicated her spring break to working with the St Brenard’s Project in New Orleans. This program uses volunteers and donations to build homes for those who are still recovering from hurricane Katrina. This trip was sponsored by the Alternative Spring Break program here at UNT, and all members who participated were part of Greek life. Of the 11 members who contributed their time 5 were from Panhellenic council, 4 were members of MGC, and 1 member of IFC and NPHC. Delta Gamma was very proud to have been represented on this trip.

Kappa Delta didn’t have any events that we threw for this month, but we did enjoy attending other organizations events and supporting our basketball team at Greek Out the Game. We held a sisterhood event at Top Golf and held a mixer not only with our Greek Week partners but with BYX as well. We’re about to throw our annual Shamrock event April 4th9th. We are proud of the hard work we put in during Greek Week and are extremely happy with our awards from Greek Awards.

The ladies of Zeta Sigma had a wonderful Spring Break. Some of our sisters went to the beach, others took to the mountains and a few even visited different countries. Everyone stayed safe, had fun and relaxed. This month, we hosted our second annual Kappa Kookout. We had a great turnout, raised money and donated books to Reading is Fundamental, and enjoyed yummy BBQ with our college community. We also participated in an American themed mixer with our amazing Greek Week partners. All of our members are looking forward to the many Greek Week festivities to come! Kappa Kappa Gamma wishes everyone an incredible rest of the semester! Instgram: @northtexaskappa

This past month the ladies of Pi Beta Phi have participated in many Greek events, including some events of our own. Earlier this March we attended Greek out the Game in preparation for Greek week. We loved supporting the Mean Green basketball team and attending Kappa Kookout after the game to support our sister sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma. Dodge the Arrow, one of our many philanthropy events, was held at the Ken Bahnsen gym here on campus on March fourth. The event was very successful, we had organizations from all across campus participate in a dodge-ball tournament and we look forward to hosting the event again next year. Beta Bash is a week long philanthropy event we had planned on hosting this past month, but due to weather the events are being rescheduled. All of our new members found their Big sister this month and we could not be more excited about the memories they are going to make with their Pi Phi family! Big Little Reveal was our last event before spring break and we had so much fun watching and supporting our fellow sisters as they found out who their bigs were. Finally, Pi Phi’s intramural basketball team won the all sorority championship, making our chapter the only three time all sorority intramural champions this academic year!

The sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha will be hosting their annual Think Pink Week next month! Our philanthropy team is working hard to promote our event and to ensure that we raise money for a noble cause: Breast Cancer Education & Awareness. We are also very excited for greek week this year and look forward to seeing what the other teams bring to the table!

Elizabeth Leese

A panhellenic woman is one who is not only involved in her own chapter but in the greater UNT community. This month Chi Omega nominated a senior who they believe embodies all that a panhellenic woman should be. Her chapter had this to say, “As a senior her determination, sweet personality, and not to mention her impeccable taste have added to Chi Omega in more ways than the chapter can count. Over the years she has developed into a wonderful and strong young women and we can’t wait to see where she goes.” Elizabeth Leese was in need of some true friends and a community at the end of her freshman year at UNT. She says as she heard Chi Omega’s “Red Hot“ chant, she instantly knew she was home. Panhellenic to Elizabeth means being a part of a team and building up the realtionships of those around you. “It’s about more than just having a cute family stack, it’s about being able to create and care for relationships. It’s about being able to uplift others and overcome adversity,” Leese said. “Being a Panhellenic woman means putting other’s needs ahead of your own and working towards something greater than yourself. “ Even though she is a senior, Elizabeth still makes an effort to continue to be involved in her chapter as well as utilize her sister as if they were actual family. “ I found my family in Chi Omega and I am at my best when I am with them. My sisters have been my biggest fans and have watched me grow in my personality and my abilities. I walk confidently because of them,” Leese said. The women behind the letters is a sweet and caring indivdual who has her very own style. We are proud of all of Elizabeth’s accomplishments and cannot wait to see what she does after college!

Quick Facts -Joined Fall 2013 and was in her second year at UNT -Fashion design major -Is deigning her own wedding dress -Would like the guest star on the Kardashians -Loves being involved in her chapter’s philanthropy
