The ladies of Alpha Delta Pi have not missed an opportunity to give back on campus throughout the past year. They started off the year by hosting their 7th annual Mocktail Blend-off in February benefiting the Ronald McDonald House charities, where teams participated in a red carpet themed event making non-alcoholic beverages. The teams came up with themes and costumes for their different drinks. They followed up in the fall with a Trunk & Treat Trunk show near the time of Halloween where they had great shopping, nice deals, and fun socializing. From all of their hard work with these events and others, their chapter not only reached their budgeted goal to donate to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, but surpassed it donating over $12,500!

The ladies of Alpha Phi have had a big year of celebration in 2014! Celebrating their 60th year on campus they started off the year with much excitement. Raising awareness for woman’s cardiac care is something that came with much passion. Hosting their annual A Phi’sta and Pancake Phi’st, the community loved coming out and eating some yummy tacos and pancakes. For their first year ever they also opened up their annual Red Dress Gala to the Greek community to support their success. Their compassion for each other and the community can be heard in any of their voices as they speak about what they do to spread awareness. They are so proud of their immediate past president, Mary Price, for being selected to be a National Educational Leadership Consultant for the 20152016 academic year.

The ladies of Chi Omega saw a goal and went for it. They have truly made Make A Wish Foundation a cause that they are passionate about. They have connected within the community and with their assigned wish family. They started off the spring with a goal in mind of wanting to grant another wish. They raised money through the Just Wish for It softball tournament in the spring and multiple giveback nights at Chipotle, On the Border, and Panda Express. Through all these efforts they were able to grant a wish to Zach, a little boy that traveled to LEGOLAND in which they gave him a sendoff party and a welcome back celebration at their lodge.

Delta Gamma’s have been seen on campus this year doing what they do best, spreading the word about how their chapter is “Doing Good. In the spring semester they started off the year hosting Desserts with DG in their home. The event consisted of a come and go open house serving what people love to eat to de-stress from school, desserts! In the fall they followed up with a big splash on the community by hosting their 7th annual Anchorsplash at the Denton Natatorium raising over $5000 for Service for Sight. They also hosted a philanthropic event with their sister sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma making braille books for young children to spread literacy and help their own philanthropy, Service for Sight.

Kappa Delta has gone above and beyond this past year with getting involved in the community. From partnering with IFC fraternity Kappa Sigma to host Curls for a Cause raising over $1,300, to hosting a Neewollah Girl Scout event taking them around sorority row to go Trick of Treating. In the spring they enjoyed having their Shamrock Glow Run along with KD Quesadillas. They are so proud to have one of their sisters, Nicole Whitfield, be a national representative as a Leadership Development Consultant who is traveling across the US to assist and guide other KD chapters to success throughout the 2014-2015 academic year.

North Texas Kappa has really focused on their national philanthropy’s this past year. In the spring they hosted Kappa Krawfish for their first year benefiting Reading is Fundamental in the sorority courtyard. They had a bright Kappa Kolor Run in the fall raising over $1000 for the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation and their sisters worldwide. While at their national convention this summer they were recognized and awarded with honorable mention for the most improved in academics as well as honorable mention in Panhellenic, so their hard work has not gone unnoticed.

Pi Beta Phi has been seen on and off campus this last year. From reading to 3rd grade elementary school students every Friday at Ginning’s elementary school to tabling on campus selling Lemonade for Literacy raising money to buy children’s books. They partnered with Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity for a volleyball tournament as well as hosted a Wing Ching dinner event at their house in the fall raising over $2000. Pi Beta Phi has been impacting the community and growing their sisterhood as well. After taking over 40 new members they have reeducated and reminded themselves on why they joined Pi Phi.

Zetas have been all around the world and back this last year with their girls studying abroad in London and Costa Rica, and volunteering at Girl Scout Camps in Montana. Their desire to travel and make a difference helped them out when it came time to their philanthropy events raising money and spreading awareness for breast cancer. Hosting a Think Pink week in the spring and fall they raised over $2000. An event that highlighted and ended their Think Pink week in the fall was Ziti Tau Alpha where they opened up their house and showcased their new renovations while serving plates of pasta to the community.

The 3rd annual Greek Preview Day was hosted on April 12, 2014 by the Office of Greek Life and has constantly been growing since the first year. With chapters present at the organization fair, Rho Gamma’s giving house tours of the chapter facilities and a fun tailgate before the spring football game, potential new members had a great time seeing the chapters in action. Save the date for Greek Preview day in April 2015 to spend a day with the UNT Greek community and the chance to meet our chapters. It will be on April 18, 2015. More information will be out shortly at greeklife.unt.edu.

Take an adventure with Panhellenic and explore recruitment. Destination Panhellenic was a success this year as we had over 340 young women find their home within one of our chapters. Recruitment started off with our recruitment orientation to get ladies excited for the upcoming weekend and allow them to meet their Rho Gamma (recruitment counselor) as well as other ladies that would be going through. For the first year we incorporated a Recruitment Logistics Team. A team of three women helped throughout the entire process and assisted the recruitment team with logistics and planning. We ended the week with a Candlelight ceremony in the courtyard allowing chapters to showcase their new members as well as allowing the recruitment team to reaffiliate with their sisters. Be sure to join us for the Fall 2015 Candlelight Ceremony.

We are so excited to announce we have adopted the Circle of Sisterhood in 2014 to become a campus partner and create a council philanthropy. “The Circle of Sisterhood is a mechanism by which all sorority women can stand together across affiliation, age, color, and creed to make a difference in the lives of millions of girls and woman. It is the leverage influence of sorority women to raise financial resources for entities around the world that are removing educational barriers for girls and women facing poverty and oppression. We are proud to announce that in our first year we raised and donated over $2000 and are excited to keep the momentum going.

Panhellenic partnered with IFC, NPHC and MGC to participate in National Hazing Prevention Week. This week consisted of a banner competition, tabling on campus, hazing presentations and signing a banner to spread the word to stop hazing. Chapters were asked to make a pillow case sized banner of anti-hazing memos to be showcased in the Greek Life Center. The picture below is of students with the banners and the all-Greek banners that were signed by students.

This year, Panhellenic put out our first ever applications to award two women with an academic scholarship for the 2015 year. These

We are so excited to have the Greek Life Center now open as a resource and facility to use for the Greek community! The UNT Greek Life center is the first standalone office and programming building for an entire Greek Community in the nation. Consisting of a large chapter room, staff offices, a council workroom, and a kitchen, the Greek Life Center is full in swing. We recognized all the donors and officially had the ribbon cutting during the 2014 Homecoming weekend. You can leave your Legacy by purchasing a paver to be placed at the Greek Life Center visit greeklife.unt.edu/center/pavers for more info.
