Liane Chornobay and Amy Fincham lead the Ridgebacks women’s lacrosse team into their second year as a full-time varsity program. Chornobay has coaching experience with Edge Lacrosse, the Oshawa Lady Blue Knights and Donald A Wilson Secondary School. As a player, she won the Senior provincial title with the Oshawa Lady Blue Knights in 2009.

In 2007, Fincham was an assistant coach with the Oshawa Lady Blue Knights under-19 rep team that went on to win the provincial title. That year, the coaches were named the 2007 Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) coaches of the year. She was also a member of Team Ontario (U19) from 2002 to 2003 and won the provincial title with the Oshawa Lady Blue Knights in 2004 and 2005.

STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITIES Athletics is a big part of student life on campus. UOIT is home to many new state-of-the-art facilities including the brand new Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre. The facility is home to varsity athletics and has five gymnasiums totaling over 40,000 sq ft of playing area and can house over 3,000 spectators. UOIT athletes and students use the new Flex Centre for their weight and cardio-training. The building also features a dance studio, a full service athletic therapy clinic, training rooms and the campus health centre. UOIT is also home to Vaso’s Field, the Campus Ice Centre and Campus Tennis Centre.
