High Performance Computing
Using the Condor facility meant that I could obtain the data I wanted in a day rather than over two weeks. Jeremiah Kelly Life Sciences
As one of our researchers here at the University, you have access to a wide range of local and international High Performance Computing (HPC) platforms that can help you run advanced applications and process large volumes of data quickly to power your research. These platforms include: • Scalable Compute for Research @ Manchester (SCRE@M) • Condor Pools • N8 HPC (regional) • ARCHER (national) • PRACE (international) Our HPC experts can give you advice and support; helping to guide you to the most appropriate platform for your needs.
Software and data engineering We have a skilled team of developers with experience in software and data engineering. We can support you in the use of your own code and applications such as MATLAB and Python. Our software experts can help with code optimisation for a variety of platforms. We also have Research Software Engineers that can work with your teams, to help develop specific tools and platforms for your project (subject to availability and funding).

Data storage and infrastructure
We know that the demand to manage your research outputs are growing and we’re ideally placed to assist. We can help with the design of your Research Data Management plans and deliver highly scalable, agile, research-data aligned storage solutions that are totally secure.
Our team can also advise on (and provide you with) virtual servers, database hosting and bespoke network infrastructure solutions.
Storing our simulation data within the Research Data Storage Service with easy and quick access to the data has made our work much easier.
