There is nothing Fergus wouldn’t do for MedSoc, in fact his dedication is rivalled only by his love of doing outrageous things for charity, such as wearing tights, cross dressing and getting dangerously close to geese! When he’s not winning the Tangy Tom challenge, you’ll find him pouting in the crisis photo booth or showing off his unrivalled dancing skills in Ocean whilst belting out Country Roads at the top of is voice. Make sure you get to know Fergus as you can be sure he’ll do he best to make sure your year is as amazing as possible!
Tara Peppercorn is your VP of Events and Socials this year! When she is not mistaking a cabbage for a lettuce, or being fascinated by bluetooth headphones, she can be seen drinking a VK (green only) in the big O. She is one of the nicest people you'll meet so make sure you come over and have a chat! . So if you ever need any advice on how to raise money, or any advice in general, don't hesitate to drop Tara a message.
If there are 2 things Philippa Jane Simpson loves it’s activities and welfare. That’s what makes her ideal for the role of Vice President for activities and welfare. Pippa is experienced in terms of welfare – but on a night out will inevitably be the one that requires it! When she’s not planning exciting things for us to do or looking after our emotional needs, she can be found enjoying a drink (sometimes 2?!?!) at Mooch – her favourite place to loosen up after a hard day of work. A fun fact about Pippa? She loves cheesy chips..
This lively lad defeats the stereotype of being a Brummie. Instead, he’s known to be a committed, organised and warm person. His love for football, Netflix and dad jokes means he’s “great company”! He’ll be there, WITHOUT a VK in hand, to make sure everyone’s having a blast! He loves to talk, so if you run into him, don’t hesitate to say hi!
Izzy Burns (Dizzy) is your Publicity Officer this year!. Fun loving and feisty, Izzy can be found with a (v)K in each hand bopping questionably around the Crisis and Stealth dance floors with a fat grin on her face. Liking to think of herself as the ‘edgy’ medic, Izzy plans to use this and her self-proclaimed BNOC status to make MedSoc Publicity EVEN bigger and better.! She will be keeping you posted via the MedSoc social media - make sure you are following for all the latest info.
A bright spark and always looking out for others, Lucy is a fantastic addition to the Medsoc committee, and fulfils the role of Treasurer – clearly someone missed A-level maths! When she’s not studying hard, Lucy can be found captaining the medics netball team or seeing off VK’s in Medics Bar. Lucy loves a bit of cheese, so you’ll be sure to find her in Ocean! Enthusiastic, witty and with an incredible sense of humour, Lucy is sure to put a smile on your face and make you feel right at home, whether you’re on a night out, or in the QMC
Straight out of Hong Kong (sort of), Darren Wong is one half of the Social secs dynamic duo this year! Never seen without his group of medics rugby boys (although rarely actually seen on the pitch), Darren is a lively, approachable guy who never turns down a social event, whether its chopping pints in the pub or blazing his gun fingers at Crisis. As a self proclaimed BNOC of the QMC, we know Darren will be able to put on some fantastic nights for freshers, so make sure you look out for his posts to get tickets for all the hottest events!
Priya is going to be your social secretary this coming year. Bubbly and approachable, she is your go-to if you want an inspiring and humorous conversation. She loves fun, as evident in her weekly attendance to Crisis showing off her somewhat questionable boogie skills without fail. She is the mastermind behind all the medsoc events and throughout the year you will be able to see her creativity shine through. Feel free to have a chat with her if you have any opinions or ideas on how medics socials should be! Or just a friendly chit chat, she’s actually quite nice..
Smooth talking Antony is our Sponsorship Officer for the year! Friendly, funny and approachable, this boy will always have time for you. When he’s not in the gym or kicking a ball around the fields for the Medic’s Football team, Antony loves to spend his nights out at ocean and Crisis - make sure you catch him there! Using his excellent Greek bargaining skills, he has worked extremely hard to get you all the best deals and offers in and around Notts, so be sure to get your MedSoc card to reap the rewards!
Dancing star Beth is your Societies Rep for this year! Super friendly, approachable and all around lovely, she’ll always have time to help you and your societies. She’ll always listen to you if you have any queries about a society or you want assistance to set up your own. So don’t miss out on having a chat with her because this enthusiast gal will fight for your societies so you can have the best time here.
I’m going to tell you a secret about Josh – he plays Rugby. When he’s not playing rugby, he’ll be in crisis donned in rugby club dress. Honestly, he’s going to be a fab sports sec this year and hopefully persuade you all to join a team and come to the biggest varsity yet! Throw him some questions who you see him and I’m sure he’ll be able to tackle them..
This Indian-Singaporean gal likes to pretend she’s American and claims that Singapore is better than every other city (it isn’t). She’s known as a friendly face around QMC or for her late-night cram sessions in a corner of Greenfield library. Being an international student herself, Nehal has experienced the highs and lows that come with moving to a new country. This coupled with her outgoing and warm personality is why we are such Nehal will make a great representative for all internationals.
Ewa is the ENTs rep for MedSoc this year, She’s super organised and committed to making this year’s MedSoc events epic – she’s already created the hugely successful summer garden party! You’ll definitely see her in Ocean every Friday, or getting adventurous with wilderness medicine. Some say she eats spaghetti carbonara for breakfast..
Dancing Queen Ella is your new Charity Rep, and boy are you lucky! She is super friendly, funny and all-round lovely gal. Known to frequent the Big O and Crisis, she loves to show off her many musical and ballet talents with a VK in hand. She’ll be organising the Welcome Ball and all the charity events Medsoc are running this year, so be sure not to miss out as this hard-working and enthusiastic human works her magic for you all!
Be it collecting for Charity, or riding the waves at Ocean, our Welfare rep Kasia is definitely one of the most involved people around the QMC. She is beyond committed to making a difference to everyone here at the Med School. Kasia always has a smile on her face, is ready to listen and has a heart of gold. Under the dimmed lights of Crisis, VK in hand, or giving shout outs in your lectures, if you don’t yet know her, I’m sure
Straight-outta Dubai, Rebekah is your Communications Officer! This friendly girl is always down for the sesh- be it to Beyonce in Crisis or High School Musical in Ocean. Although she has questionable taste in the opposite sex, she’s got a good eye for design and detail - making her a perfect fit to design your new MedSoc website.. Over-all, this fun loving girl with a great sense of humour is sure to be your best communications officer yet!
Everyone has that one uncle that ends up singing and dancing at a family gathering. Callum is that uncle to MedSoc! Overcoming the difficulties of being blind in one eye, he proved to be a jovial character who forms a big part of medics Rugby, on and off the field. He’s commonly found in Ocean, sometimes with his lovely mother, Stephanie? He’ll welcome you into the Medical School with open arms and serve as a friendly, recognisable face during your 1st year.
Harry Wood is one of the 2 awesome 2nd year reps for MedSoc and is a brilliant character to know. When he’s not spending all his money in various nightclubs and casinos, embarrassing himself at the front of a lecture or tearing it up on the rugby pitch, he can be found around the medical school always willing to help with any problems you may have.. He enjoys long walks on the beach, slow roasting a leg of lamb and sleeping, a lot. Who WOODn’t want to get to know this Northern wonder…
Liam ‘Nandos’ Gardner is your 4th year rep!! How this Surrey// South-African has time to juggle being Hockey President, 4th Year Rep and attend med-school is a mystery. On top of all this, expect to see Liam every week at Crisis or Ocean, VK in hand. In the rare times you’ll actually see Liam, do stop him to have a chat or even ask for some free Nandos??
Maria Francisca de Almeida Costa e Craveiro da Rocha. True to name, this Portugal native is larger than life. Call her Kika, for short. Kika is a legend of the medical school.. Always approachable and happy to help others, so stop and say hi if you see her in the library (or more likely, Ocean). The 5th years are fortunate to have her representing them and she is set to be one of the best year reps MedSoc has ever seen…

MEDICS SPORTS TEAMS Medics are always over-achievers in all aspects of life, including sport. MedSoc sports teams participate in the national league (NAMS) and university league (IMS) and training fits in with our jampacked lifestyles. As well as playing in leagues, our annual varsity series against Leicester promises to be one of the year’s highlights and this time is being hosted by us! The sports that MedSoc offer include: Badminton, Basketball, Cheerleading, Cricket, Cross Country, Cycling, Football (men’s & women’s), Futsal, Hockey, Rowing, Rugby, Squash, TableTennis, Tennis and Volleyball Although we can get quite serious on the pitch, we all know how to have a great time off it. You can be sure to have a great time and have the opportunity to meet new medics from all years as well as alumni.
