Welcome to our Careers in Civil Engineering Fair It is great to see you at the second of this year’s Careers in Civil Engineering Fairs. According to the Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS, 2014) there is an increase in the number of vacancies for civil engineering graduates. Employers attending the fair may have opportunities for final years interested in graduate positions as well as year-long and summer placements for first, second and penultimate year students, in a range of interesting roles across their businesses. Whether you are interested in working on major UK projects such as HS2, Crossrail, Hinckley Point C, or you want to be part of a range of other developments in roads, residential, rail, energy and flood defences all around the world, the organisations visiting the fair may have opportunities for you. Even if you are unsure what type of role or organisation is right for you, you can still learn a lot from the employers visiting the fair about what they look for in students and graduates, which will help you in any future applications. You may even find out about opportunities you never knew existed.
