Welcome to Law Fair 2013 A legal career is very popular with students and in the current economic climate it is very important that you find out as much as you can about the firms and their opportunities.

The same will apply for those interested in areas such as civil liberties and personal injury. You need to be on top of the news and have a good understanding of the issues of the day.

To gain a training contract or a pupillage you will need to meet the firms academic requirements, undertake thorough research into their business and are very clear on your reasons for applying to them.

This fair provides a great opportunity to meet leading legal recruiters and education providers and find out what they are looking for from applicants.

You need to consider what you can offer and how to make your application stand out from the competition. Whatever the core business of the firm, you will have to demonstrate an interest and awareness of their practice areas and their clients.

The exhibitors will be promoting their vacation schemes, training contracts, mini-pupillages, pupillages, law conversion courses, the LPC and BPTC. Make the most of this unique opportunity.

If you are interested in commercial firms, then it stands to reason that you will need to have a knowledge and understanding of commercial issues beyond the headlines. If you want to be a business adviser, then you must be prepared to have your claims questioned.

Students engaging with staff at Freeth Cartwright LLP in Nottingham.

We have been in London for in excess of 40 years and the team there focuses on M&A, construction, project development, international arbitration and litigation, finance, and tax.

We offer vacation placements in the London office, which are viewed as key to our trainee recruitment process, and have a relatively small intake of four to five trainees a year, with great prospects of an international secondment.

The firm operates an award winning nonrotational training system with trainees working in all practice areas concurrently throughout their two years. The training is designed to provide variety, flexibility and responsibility from the start.
