Careers and Employability Service nottingham.ac.uk/careers

Welcome to the Law Fair The Law Fair provides a great opportunity to meet leading legal recruiters and education providers and find out what they are looking for in applicants. The firms are exhibiting because they want to talk to you and ultimately, recruit you. The exhibitors will be promoting their vacation schemes, training contracts, law conversion courses, the Legal Practice Course and the Bar Professional Training Course. A legal career is very popular with students and in the current economic climate it is important that you find out as much as you can about the firms and their opportunities. To gain a training contract or a pupillage you will need to ensure you meet academic requirements, have done research and be clear on why you are applying to the firms and chambers.

You will need to consider what you can offer and how to make your application stand out over and above the competition. Whatever the core business of the firm or chambers you're interested in, it is important to demonstrate an interest in and awareness of their practice areas and clients. Our team is here to help you understand and make the most of the law job market – not just today – but during your time at university and once you graduate. Make sure you leave with a copy of our events guide so that you can see what else is happening this term. And finally, keep in touch. You can book to see us at nottingham.ac.uk/careers/appointment or ask our experts a question on Facebook or Twitter. If you have a burning question, it’s a great way to get a quick answer. We hope you enjoy the day. Stuart Marriott Associate Director of the Careers and Employability Service
