Is it a windy day?
We currently live in a connected world. We have constant access to information with the click of a button. There are several weather applications that have been developed and made available so that people can plan their day based on the weather forecast for that day. Very often these applications give you information in the form of facts and figures, which doesn’t necessarily mean anything to people. The way people perceive weather is based on where they come from and what they are used to. Imagine a weather app that could personalize the weather information just for you, which would then help you better understand the weather in a new environment. That is exactly what the weather globe does.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Increasing International Student Population
Connected Objects
According to Cisco there are presently more connected objects than there are people on this planet. Over the next five years the number of connected objects is going to be double of what it is presently.
The number of students who move out of their home cities for the purpose of education is increasing. There has been a 10% increase in the year 2013 in only the U.K. this trend is likely to continue over the next few years to come.
Calm Technology
With the increase in the number of connected objects there is a growing need to have devices that are provide the user with screenless interfaces that help communicate information in a calm and ambient way.

OK, BUT HOW WILL I KNOW WHICH MODE I AM IN? We thought you might ask that. The weather globe comes in-built with a tilt sensor. Each time you pick up the globe and give it a shake it acts as a switch to toggle between modes. The order remains constant with a brief pause when one mode has ended to indicate that you can now move to the next weather parameter.
