t A Tropical Haven, Rosenberg native Tracy Drabek combines her love of painting with her confidence in making naked people feel at ease.

What? “I worked for a plastic surgeon in Houston for more than 10 years,” laughs Tracy. “It required seeing naked people and not making them feel judged. It’s also where I got started in sunless spray tanning. Our clients and my co-workers wanted to be tanned, so I purchased the equipment and started spraying them. That was nearly 20 years ago!”

In 2005, Tracy moved home and launched A Tropical Haven where she provides custom sunless spray tanning with a 100% guarantee. “We custom blend your color for the result that you want,” explains Tracy. “No orange…I hate that word! If you do not like your tan, come back, and we’ll fix it.”

Tracy’s making the world a happier place with a little bit of faux sunshine, and she’s doing it in a historic building built in the 1920s. “I bought this building and the one next to it five years ago,” says Tracy. “I love my building. I remember coming here with my grandparents when it was Blase Dry Goods. There’s so much history here. I love the mom-and-pop feel, and I want you to feel it too when you visit A Tropical Haven.”

A Tropical Haven’s clientele includes bridal parties, teenagers preparing for prom, body builders, and individuals wanting to tan for a beach vacation. “We spray people of all ages,” says Tracy. “My oldest client is 78…and she gets tanned on a regular schedule.”
