Editor I had many young women contact me, saying they want to be models but when I ask which category of modeling are they interested the most I found out that they don’t even know any type of modeling, that is just dawn out risky, as an aspiring model you must do your research, I would advise every model to try out every category you may think you are good and one type only to find that you are better in another, you will never know until you try. Safety, Safety, Safety. Before you go anywhere do your research. I see a lot of aspiring models giving their numbers to strangers on social media, someone posts I am looking for models and models reply with their whatsapp number most of these accounts when I check them, the is 5 or less pictures of the person, a little info about the person being a model. Upcoming Mag models had their own share of some of these people with false promises and no jobs; instead it is a horny guy wanting to masturbate to fresh nudes.
Our The guy will pretend to be a woman so you can feel at ease, he will tell you that he works for Mercedes Benz fashion week or some big well-known modeling company he will promise you great payment and work you up a yes ladder, starting with a picture of your face, then your shoulders, your thighs, he will want you to send him pictures in lingerie and eventually he will ask you for pictures of your vagina. A agency or a photographer can take you their own professional nudes, why would they want your private parts selfies? In this edition we featured aspiring models and models that are making waves; we also have a lot of modeling info that will come in handy. Knowledge is power.

How to Become a Fashion Model Originally appeared on The Balance The most common question that modeling agents and scouts receive from aspiring models is, "how do I become a fashion model?" There is so much information in books, on websites, and swirling around in modeling forums that it can seem very confusing and overwhelming to a new model who is just starting out. Here are 5 simple steps to help you get started.
1. Take Some Snapshots
Basic
In the beginning, the only photos you need to present to modeling agents and scouts are some basic snapshots. They are looking for a nice face shot (smiling and not smiling), left and right profiles of your face and body, a full length shot and a back shot. Wear form-fitting clothing like skinny jeans or leggings and a simple tank top or tshirt. If you are comfortable wearing a swimsuit, then include a few swimsuit shots as well, either a one-piece or two-piece swimsuit is fine. Male models need to show the agents their fitness level, so it is recommended that male models wear swim trunks or boxer shorts, or wear jeans without a shirt in at least one of their photos.
2. Get Evaluated by a Professional Model Agent or Scout Most new models start their quest because their family and friends have said “you should be a model," or they are the prettiest girl or guy in the school. They may have even won some local modeling competitions. UPCOMING Mag
That’s a great start, but it doesn’t necessarily translate into what the agencies are looking for. It is essential that you get your modeling potential evaluated by an experienced model agent or scout before you invest too much time or money into your pursuit. This step can get a little tricky. How do you determine whether the agent or scout who is evaluating you has the experience and knowledge to help you? Also, many new models find that they live in a smaller market where many of the agents are affiliated with a modeling school or photography studio. As a result, they may not be getting an accurate evaluation if the "agency" is more interested in selling courses or photo shoots. It doesn't mean that the agent isn't good or that the courses or photo shoots they are offering are bad; it just means that you need to think about what is motivating them to tell you whether or not you can be a model.
3.
Get as Much Exposure as Possible
Many agencies specialize in only one particular area. Some may only represent high fashion (editorial) models. Others may only represent commercial models, or plus-size, petite, or child models. If one agency is unable to represent you don’t get discouraged, it’s important that you get seen by as many agents as possible and on a routine basis. If you live in one of the major markets you may be able to attend an open call or goseeat the agency. If you live outside one of the major markets the best way to get exposure is to send your photos to as many agencies as possible. It can be a very time-consuming and expensive endeavor, especially if you are making copies of all your photos and then mailing them. The cost of prints, envelopes, and stamps can easily add up to over a thousand dollars. Another option is to email your photos--but with thousands of photos being emailed to model agencies every day, it is very easy to get lost in the mix. To increase your chances of being signed by an agency, it is important to work with people who have experience and direct connections to all the agencies in a wide variety of markets. ModelScouts.com is a great place to start and offers the most legitimate and costeffective way for you to get the exposure you need to be seen by many agents around the world and in the quickest way possible. UPCOMING Mag
4. Know the Best Market for You
Modeling
The term “market” refers to the various geographical locations in which models work and earn a living. New York is a “market,” Paris is “market,” Tokyo is a “market," and so on. The word "market" can also refer to the category your particular look falls into such as the fashion market, commercial market, plus market, or petite market. While the supermodels you see in major magazines and walking the runways for top clients generally work in every market, there are many successful models who only work in one or two markets. So, even though you may not get represented by an agency in New York or Paris, you could very well be perfect for Tokyo, Singapore, and other Asian markets. An experienced agent can help guide you to the right market for your particular look.
5. Be Persistent Becoming a professional model is a process. It rarely happens overnight. Even the models who say “I was just walking down the street one day and the next I was on the cover of Vogue” are exaggerating. Becoming a professional model takes time. Many of today’s top models didn’t get signed to an agency the first time out of the gate. Supermodel Gisele Bundchen was turned down over 40 times before she was finally signed to an agency. Stay positive and remember that just because an agency wasn’t able to represent you today, it doesn’t mean they won’t be interested tomorrow.

Do Lingerie Models Find Their Job Demeaning? Do models find their career demeaning, especially those that do lingerie? originally appeared on Quora - the place to gain and share knowledge, empowering people to learn from others and better understand the world. Answer by Mandie Brice, Model at Ford Models, on Quora:
I am a model, and former lingerie model. The answer is really hard to pin down. I am also an intellect, and have a lot more lenses to be viewed as aside from modeling. Am I more than something pretty to look at and sell clothes? Absolutely. In modeling, there are at least two types of models who model lingerie - commercial lingerie models, and glamour models. For a commercial lingerie model, the shoots and jobs are always about one thing - selling lingerie. For a glamour model, it is much more about selling the model and her sex appeal than the actual garments themselves. When I modeled lingerie, I often took a potentially idealistic approach - that I was hopefully helping to strengthen the relationships of people who are in love and want an extra spark or excitement, or that at the very least, women who were inspired to buy the lingerie I wore would feel sexier and more confident as a result of their purchase.
Another stance I took as a model is that I could role model healthy adult sexuality and being sexy, and that you don’t have to choose between embracing intelligence and embracing sexiness. It was during a time when Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian (who I believe are both brilliant businesswomen) were being praised for being dumb and hot. My using social media to show intelligence and sexiness was important to me. Yes, there were moments on the trade show floor or on set for photoshoots where I felt objectified, but they were minimal, and I chose to do my best to empower myself to take any advantages god gave me and celebrate them as best I can.

14 Important types of model categories originally appeared on L’AGENCY MODELMANAGEMENT
There are so many different types of modeling that you will find in the model industry and some models may fit into more categories than others. Here is a quick overview. 1. COMMERCIAL MODEL: Most agency models work in this category. Commercial models work for different jobs, i.e. print advertisements, catalogs, campaigns, television shows, magazines, and trade shows. There are no height or size requirements to be a commercial model. If you do not fit the size requirements for becoming a fashion model, you can still find work and book great jobs as a Commercial model, doing fashion print and much more. This category of modeling accommodates a variety of looks, from very unique and interesting faces to best agers, the girl next door, Plus Size Models and many more. 2. PRINT MODEL: Print models are used for magazines, print advertisements, posters, calendars, campaigns, booklets, flyers, banners. Print models have an attractive face, good skin, a nice body, and a pretty smile. 3. PLUS-SIZE MODEL: These models do not fit the size requirements of mainstream modeling. They weigh more, have fuller figures, and have pretty faces. They can be hired as catalog models for plus-sized clothing brands, among many other job opportunities. Plus-sized models are able to achieve representation with modeling agencies that have a “Plus-Size” division. Related: 6 UPCOMING essential Mag photograph-shots for a model portfolio
4. GLAMOUR MODEL: Models in this category are considered very pretty; able to book work simply by being attractive, a nice body, and sex appeal. Requirements for booking paid promo work: a great attitude, outgoing nature, a nice smile, and the ability to easily adapt. 6. SPOKESMODEL: A spokesmodel is a more lucrative form of promo modeling. These models are acting as the face of the brand, being paid to attend events and make special appearances, appearing in advertisements, and traveling the country. 7. TRADE SHOW MODEL, OR CONVENTION MODEL: Another form of promo modeling. These models are hired by a company to represent their brand, product, or service specifically at a trade show or convention.
