01 VULNERABILITY IS IMPLICIT Delaware River, Philadelphia, PA Educational Waterfront Park Academic Project| Individual| Spring 2017| PennDesign Advisor: Keith VanDerSys

The Delaware River Waterfront is vulnerable to natural forces. Reacting to the resurgence of Delaware River water management difficulties, this project proposes an educational waterfront park to make this vulnerability explicit, making people aware of the vulnerability of human history compared to natural forces. By showcasing the process and effect of water erosion and flooding with engaging landforms and design features, this project reconnects people to water physically and psychologically, suggesting the implicit history about how our industrial past and present is a continuous form of decaying subject.

02 Open Up an Urban Enclave Parkchester, Bronx, New York City Urban Design Studio Academic Project| Collaborated with Yang An| Spring 2018| PennDesign Advisor: Nickolas Pevzner

This project utilizes the new Triboro Station as an opportunity for the public realm connection between the north Van Nest community and the currently enclaved Parkchester community. The station public realm will have two components: a diagonal thorough street and a connection deck in order to connect neighborhoods along the New Parkchester Station both physically and psychologically.

03 Hot Spot Urbanism Bogota, Columbia Urban Design Reseach Studio Academic Project| Spring 2019| PennDesign Advisor: David Gouverneur, Richard Weller The Bogotá Studio is part of a larger research initiative in the landscape department at Penn. Richard Weller’s ‘Atlas for the End of the World’ has audited land use in the world’s biodiversity hotspots and identified the conflict zones between urban growth and biodiversity in these hotspots. This studio is a case study which seeks to formulate alternative urbanization scenarios and explore new design tools that will guide urban growth whilst simultaneously fostering habitat conservation and restoration in a symbiotic manner. This project is exploring the research question about how can ecological corridors and urban community coexist each other. The site to test my research question is at the Van der Hammen Natural Reserve, the only regional forest reserve between the Eastern Hills and Rio Bogota. This project tries to mitigate the conflict between urban growth and biodiversity so that a community and biodiveristy thrive together.

04 GIVING LAND TO WATER Bacon Island, Sacramento San Joaquin Delta, CA

Placemaking of An Experimental Flooded Polder Senior Research Project| Individual| Spring 2016| UC Davis Advisor: Brett Milligan

This project speculates the ways of designing flooded polders in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta in order to optimize their future use and place values. With case studies, interviews and fieldwork, this study investigates the current uses of flooded polders in the Delta region and the potential design opportunities of a flooded polder to become a social interface between the main users of flooded polders: scienctists and recreationist. 05 GREEN ROOF CONSTRUCTION Hunt Hall, Davis, CA Design Built Project Collaborative Built Project| Collaborative| Fall 2015| UC Davis Supported by UC Davis Arboretum

This project coordinated 10 students to construct a green roof in the courtyard of Hunt Hall. The design features include components of a green roof, a series of bike racks under the green roof, and an infiltration rock bed near bike racks. The process of this design built project consisted of the conceptual design initiation, construction drawing drafting, and the collaboration with campus arboretum for succulent plants donation. This project aims to develop an educational green roof that showcases how green infrastructure captures rainwater and runoff. The planting pallete focuses on droughttolerant native species in California. Water-proof membrane and tap irrigation systems were installed for easy management.
