Go Orange for No Kid Go Hungry - Uptown Campus Dining By Sodexo 2013

Sodexo Recognizes Go Orange Day by Volunteering at Grow Dat and Participating in the Loyola Wellness Expo Sodexo Campus Services staff across Loyola University and Tulane University campuses joined forces with Tulane Dining Services and Loyola Athletics to spread awareness of Go Orange for No Kid Hungry.

Management staff from Tulane University and Loyola University as well as the Tulane Dining Services team spent the morning of Tuesday, September 17 volunteering at Grow Dat Youth Farms.

Located at 150 Zachary Taylor Drive, Grow Dat Youth Farm was developed by Tulane City Center (TCC) at the Tulane School of Architecture from an abandoned golf course to a diversified organic farm cultivated by New Orleans youth. Building on this relationship, Olive Blue Catering, the catering department of Tulane Dining Services by Sodexo, began purchasing

produce last Spring from Grow Dat Youth Farm. While creating a healthy and supportive work environment for local youth, Grow Dat Youth Farm also donates 20% of their crop to needy families in the New Orleans area.

Sodexo, in partnership with Loyola New Orleans University and Tulane University, are proud to announce a joint donation in the amount of $1,000.00 to go to provide job opportunities for teenagers to grow fresh food for their community.

Loyola Dining Services by Sodexo also teamed up with Loyola Athletics to support the 2013 5th Annual Wellness Expo, held in the St. Charles Room on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 17. Featuring activities such as massages, bone density screenings, and a blood donation area, the Wellness Expo strived to promote wellness and health in everyday life. District Chef Travis Johnson prepared a healthful menu featuring local ingredients, including Sweet & Spicy Red Fish, Lemon & Cracked Black Pepper Red Snapper, Seven-Spice Louisiana Mushrooms, Toasted Onion & Garlic Louisiana Sweet Potato Hash, and Jazzmen Brown Rice. Sodexo also donated 50 free meals in the Orleans Room to the first 50 Faculty and Staff members to get their entire card signed by every vendor.
