A collaborative community design project resulting in improvement schemes for pedestrianization of a downtown side street, a chicane design to tame a dangerous downtown cut through, and a strategy to link important but underused downtown plazas, alleys, side streets, and parks.
Over the course of six-months, the study addressed shared streets, urban stormwater treatment, parking, wayfinding, traffic calming, urban trash collection, the incorporation of art, and outdoor dining permits pre- and post-COVID.
The project included a three-day design charrette. Over 2,000 people participated in surveys, public meetings and focus groups.
