INTERNATIONAL PACIFIC ARTIST: This new category is significant, as it acknowledges Pacific music artists living outside of New Zealand. The award has come about due to the success of the Pacific Music Awards and requests from Pacific music artists living overseas. The Trust looks forward to connecting with Pacific artists from around the world and to celebrating their music, here at our annual awards ceremony.

Named in honour of Phillip Fuemana, who pioneered Pacific music and was the force behind legendary record label, Urban Pacifika Records, fostering the careers of countless artists. This award seeks to continue his legacy. Stebbings Recording Centre are providing a CD manufacture package, to the 2014 recipient.

BRITISH COUNCIL ASPIRING INTERNATIONAL ARTIST: The British Council is providing an amazing opportunity for the recipient, which includes a trip to the UK, opportunities to perform live and industry networking. The Trust is thrilled to work with the British Council to provide further career development opportunities for our Pacific music artists. The British Council is partly funded by British taxpayers who see the value of arts and culture in creating trust between people around the world – and today that kaupapa is more important than ever.

Awarded by the Pacific Music Awards Trust. This award recognises the work by an individual or group, and their significant contribution to Pacific music. The Trust would like to acknowledge the support of Manukau Institute of Technology, for this extremely important award. The 2014 recipient is by no means at the end of their career but is being recognised for their achievements, contribution and impact thus far whilst acknowledging that there is more to come. They have been unique in achieving success within the mainstream industry, Pacific community, nationally and overseas. The artist hails from a musical family and is one of a kind. This award also fitting, given the artist has already been honoured with the Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to music. This award looks to acknowledge the individual achievements of this artist, their mana and integrity, and the inspiration provided for our current and future Pacific music artists.
