The 2014 recipient is by no means at the end of their career but is being recognised for their achievements, contribution and impact thus far whilst acknowledging that there is more to come. They have been unique in achieving success within the mainstream industry, Pacific community, nationally and overseas. The artist hails from a musical family and is one of a kind. This award also fitting, given the artist has already been honoured with the Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to music. This award looks to acknowledge the individual achievements of this artist, their mana and integrity, and the inspiration provided for our current and future Pacific music artists.
