_____________________________ more than just photos I’m Kate, Chief Colouring In Officer at Urban Safari. Most importantly I am a wife, a sister, a daughter and a friend. These relationships are my biggest asset and inspiration, and photography fits into my life nicely because it allows me to capture the relationships of others. After studying business at university, I realised the thing I loved doing the most was traveling and taking photos. If I can get out, meet some interesting people or experience some new location or flavour then I’m happy. You’ll hear a lot of photographers say that they love their job and rightfully so – getting to hang out with great people and celebrate special occasions makes getting up in the morning an easy task! I care about what I do and it comes across in my photos. Don’t hire me if you want airbrushed skin and whitened teeth on all your photos. Hire me because you want someone who will remember your family’s names, work extra hard with the kids and notice all the little moments that make up your wedding day. My husband and I were married recently (that’s us on this page) so I know exactly how stressful the lead up to your Big Day can be, but also how much FUN it is and how quickly it seems to be over. My job is to make sure you can relive that day every time you open your album. Kate Dyer

Do you provide the digital files? Yes, in high resolution. I strongly encourage you to print your favourites and save a copy to your computer ‘just in case’. Where should I print my photos? I cannot stress enough the benefits of using a professional printer. Department store kiosks are really average in comparison so let us know if we can help by recommending a great lab or by arranging it for you.

How much do you charge? Pricing information can be found on our website at www.urbansafari.com.au/pricing. I charge based on the time spent at your wedding, with any extras such as albums priced seperately. Do you travel for weddings? Yes - about half of my clients are outside of Melbourne. I’ve worked in many parts of Australia and love exploring!

_______________

_______________

_______________ How do we make a booking? A deposit of $500 is required to secure your wedding date. From there, you can decide how much coverage you will need and add any extras you’d like. How long until we get the photos? We’ll put some images online within a few days of the wedding just for fun, then up to 3 weeks after the wedding you’ll receive a great little package in the mail!

photo albums

_____________________________ from digital to print Have you ever lost a file on your computer? Digital photography has so many benefits but also includes a risk factor when it comes to preserving your images. Make a back-up of your USB of images as soon as possible, but consider the longevity of a printed album as another way to store and protect your photos from being lost in a technology failure. Albums are a great way to organise your images into a story you can share both now and for years to come, no matter how data storage develops.

Our most popular album is a coffee table style book printed on a beautifully textured art paper. Instead of limiting you to 20 or 30 sides as traditional albums often do, these books can hold up to 100 pages and beyond. We don’t just stop at pictures, either. By including names of your bridal party, ceremony participants, venues and other important notes, your album becomes a detailed record of the day. If you’ve got the speeches written down, pass them on and we’ll include those too!

THANK

YOU

thank you

_____________________________ personalised cards included We love good manners. So much so, we decided to include a free set of Thank You cards for every couple we work with. It’s our way of saying thanks for supporting Urban Safari and it makes it really easy to thank your guests for their gifts and presence at your wedding. We’ll personalise your cards with your choice of images and text, so all you have to do is add a little note and an address. We can even match the design to the rest of your stationery, so everything coordinates perfectly. Envelopes are included too!

Kate from Urban Safari was absolutely awesome. She captured the whole story of the day so well and, as we had hoped, really obtained photos that were ‘in the moment’ and showed raw emotion rather than capturing a lot of posed photos.

moving portraits

__________________________________ move over, video! Moving Portraits by Urban Safari are somewhere between wedding photography and wedding videography - three to eight minutes of heartstring-tugging goodness. By capturing audio recordings from your wedding, regular photos are made extra special with the voices of those pictured. It’s way more than just a slideshow, but you have to watch it to understand. If hearing your partner make their promises to you, or your family give a speech is all you really want captured, take a look at our Moving Portraits on our website.

STYLIST Q & A

________________________________ WITH ELAINE FROM STYLE & DISCOURSE My husband Simon and I were married earlier this year in McLaren Vale, South Australia. I was adamant that the wedding would be 100% ‘us’ and to achieve that mean lots of DIY details. I had so many craft ideas for invitations, decorations, menus and more but I could only actually execute a handful of those ideas on my own. I was mostly worried about how everything would be set up on the day, especially while I was getting my hair and make-up done. I needed someone with style, which was where Elaine came in.

ELAINE styled this event on location at tomboy smith street, fitzroy

Elaine, what exactly does a Wedding Stylist do? We look after the decor details of a wedding ensuring everything perfectly reflects a couple’s style. Think things like: • Centrepieces & Tablescapes • Flowers • Signage and Stationary bits • Furnishings & Lighting • Feature installations - eg. pompoms, tassels, floral chandeliers and more • Guest favours • Dessert & Candy buffets and any other beautiful things you'd like your guests to see.

_______________

What sort of venues have you worked in and what sort of themes have you created? We are lucky enough to have been to all sorts of weird and wonderful places, from tropical beaches to country barns. Currently rustic and vintage inspired weddings are very popular with my most recent obsession being Golden 20s glamour - very Great Gatsby!

We have worked with budgets from $800 to $80,000 plus! All depends on the what, who, when and how. Everyone can afford a beautifully styled wedding. In fact, couples often save money (and tons of time and sleepless nights) as we have many tricks of the trade and access to fab mates rates. So you can be there through the entire process, or just come in on the Big Day to make sure everything looks amazing? We can help with as much or as little as needed. It may be centrepiece design only or on day set-up for the DIY couple. Then there is the wow wedding where we take care of absolutely everything!

First we’ll chat about their likes, loves and wedding dreams. I ask couples to find their fave inspiration pics on our style categorised Pinterest page (pinterest. com/stylediscourse) and then I’ll present a mood board and style folio covering all the thoughtful details that will create their dream wedding. There's lots of chit chats along the way... and it's ok to change your mind! We had a great crafting day making our decorations. Do you always get involved with the hands-on tasks? Definitely! Creating personal and custom made decor details is one of the most fun and important elements of being a wedding stylist. It's even more rewarding when there is a crafty bride who wants to get involved too.

I thought stylists were only for highcost weddings, with prices more than a designer dress or the food bill. What are the options?
