Kolkata Metro: Afcons team commences construction work on Corridor-6 at City Centre 2 The project team of Afcons Infrastructure has started ground work at City Centre 2 to construct 3.519 km mostly elevated extension from Sub CBD-2 Station to Kolkata Airport (Biman Bandar) under Package ANVS of Corridor6 (Kavi Subhash/New Garia – Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport) of Kolkata Metro Rail project on March 1, 2021.
Mumbai Metro: CRRC completes installation of PSD at first platform of Line-7 The project team from CRRC Zhuzhou Times Electric completed installing the first half-height Platform Screen Door (PSD) at Akurli Station of Line 7 (Dahisar East – Andheri East ) of Mumbai Metro Rail Project on March 2, 2021.
Ahmedabad Metro: Afcons team conducts Pile Load Tests for Phase 2 work The project team from Afcons Infrastructure and Cimec Technologies conducted initial vertical pile load tests at at six sites between Motera Stadium and GNLU for the construction of Phase 2 corridor of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project. The tests were performed to find the ultimate load the pile foundation can support or bear when loaded. The test results will be used to validate the safe pile capacity considered for supporting the viaduct’s superstructure.
CRRC commences construction of Metro Coach Plant at Sri City CRRC India, a subsidiary of CRRC Corporation, held ground breaking ceremony on March 3, 2021 to launch construction on its new metro coach manufacturing plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh to supply metro cars in India, West Asia and Africa. The new plant will be developed in a 45.3 acres land parcel in the Domestic Tariff Zone (DTZ)

with an initial investment of Rs 350 crore. CRRC had awarded a civil contract worth Rs 136.54 crore to Ocean Lifespaces India in July 2020.
Pune Metro: TBM S81 commenced Tunneling work at Swargate The project team from Gulermak and Tata Projects Ltd. commissioned tunnel boring machine (TBM S81 at Swargate Station of 16.589 km Purple Line of Phase 1 of Pune Metro Rail Project on March 2, 2021. The Terratec made Ø6.61m earth pressure balance (EPB) machine passed factory acceptance tests (FAT) in January 2020 and arrived in Pune in February 2020 for building the 2.74 km tunnels under Package UGC-02.
Mumbai-Ahmedabad HSR: L&T commences Piling work for Package C6 The project team of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) started piling works at Rayka Village near Vadodara on March 5, 2021, construction of the 87.569 km section under Package C6 of the Mumbai – Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project. This is the third longest package of the entire line, and connects Vadodara with Ahmedabad through one station and a minor depot at Anand-Nadiad.
Mumbai Metro: Afcons Infrastructure launches first U-Girder for Line 5 The project team of Afcons Infrastructure and Tara Chand Logistics erected the first two 28m U-girders for Line 5 of Mumbai near Balkum Naka Metro Station’s site in Thane on March 7, 2021. The team had started casting U-girders at their Dapode yard in December 2020 and planned to launch approximately 800 U-girders by the end of 2022.
