Reflecting on fatherhood, Dontaye shares, "There’s been no title that I’m prouder to wear than Dad. Everything that I do comes from a desire to leave this world better for my daughter than what I inherited. However, I’m not the only Black father fighting to protect my family and provide for them As Kyleigh and I sat down to write this book and she told me what she saw in me; it was the same thing I saw in every Black father I encounter day to day. We often feel unseen, unheard, and devalued, but this is an opportunity to add hope, love, and strength to a narrative that is often only seen through the lens of hip-hop and gang life " Dontaye's professional achievements include securing features for his clients in major publications like Time Magazine, New York Times, and BBC.

My Daddy and Me is a heartfelt celebration of Black fathers and their essential role as heroes in their children's lives. Dontaye and Kyleigh aim to shatter stereotypes and showcase the love, strength, and dedication of Black fathers, often overlooked by prevailing narratives When not working, Dontaye serves as the Communications Chair for the Georgia NAACP, actively participates in Kyleigh's school PTO, and contributes to the Board of Directors of CURE Childhood Cancer.
