Steadfast Workers: How Urgent Care Hawaii is Responding to Increased Need of COVID-19 Tests

 In the past few weeks, the Delta variant of COVID-19 has rocked Hawaii with a dramatic increase in cases and hospitalizations.  The Delta variant’s ability to be transmissible to those who have been vaccinated, combined with the increase in tourism and relaxing of safety regulations, resulted in over 1,000 new cases being reported in just one day, a record-breaking high for Hawaii during the entire pandemic.  As the number of COVID cases continues to climb, and now that the vaccine doesn’t guarantee you safety from the Delta variant, demand for Corona virus Testing Kailua, Kapolei, and Pearl City is spiking for Urgent Care Hawaii.

 “They are coming in because their employer says you need a negative test before you can come back to work,” says Donna Schmidt, CEO of Urgent Care Hawaii.  With the need to return to work and worry of high exposure, Urgent Care Hawaii is seeing an influx of over 200 patients a day, twice our normal capacity.  However, all of us at Urgent Care Hawaii are working hard to give you the Best Urgent Care experience in Honolulu by getting everyone that comes in the tests they need.  With the large number of new patients needing tests, we are working around the clock to find and distribute more tests than ever before.

 We understand the importance of finding COVID-19 early on, so those infected can get the treatment they need and prevent further spread of the virus.  The more people we can get tests to, the safer and healthier Hawaii will be.  As more and more people start to wonder if they should get tested, it’s important that we follow the CDC guidelines for who should get tested in the wake of the Delta variant.  Knowing these guidelines helps prioritize those who need to be tested, and keeps us from getting overwhelmed with people needing tests.

 These guidelines also help keep everyone safe by setting safety guidelines in case of exposure.

People who have symptoms of COVID-19, or been exposed to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19, should be tested.  If you ARE vaccinated, you should get tested 3-5 days after exposure, and wear a mask while in public indoors for 14 days or until a negative test result is received.  If you ARE NOT vaccinated, you should get tested and quarantine immediately if exposed; if negative, get tested again after 5-7 days after last exposure or immediately if symptoms develop during quarantine.  We at Urgent Care Hawaii understand how unsettling this situation is for us all. It’s important to remember at this time that we have the power to overcome this rise in positive cases and COVID-19 as a whole.

 By working together to follow safety guidelines, get tested, and get vaccinated, we can make COVID-19 a thing of the past.  Urgent Care Hawaii will continue to work hard to bring you the best Urgent Care Honolulu has to offer through excellent care and resources on hand.  If you are concerned about having contracted COVID-19, Urgent Care Hawaii offers Coronavirus testing in Kailua, Kapolei, and Pearl City.  Come in, and we’ll get you the test that you need.
