We are a welcoming and inclusive student-centered research community. We pursue lives of service and intellectual exploration to solve scientific challenges and prepare students to deliver interdisciplinary healthcare with compassion and intention.

STRATEGIC PRIORITY 1: RESEARCH & OUTREACH

Broaden our impact through a reinvigorated commitment to our land and sea grant missions and the State of Rhode Island (URISP1)

Goal 1 - Private-Public Partnerships Evolve into a worldclass hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, and public-private partnerships

Goal 2 – Student Involvement in Research Foster excellence in learning and student development to include involvement in research, scholarship, and creative work that addresses real-world issues

Goal 3 – Data/Technology Expansion Leverage data and technologies in new ways

Goal 4 – Prominent Partnerships Create expansive and robust partnerships with other prominent research and health care institutions - local, state, regional, and global

Goal 5 - Communications Communicate our research successes, internally and externally, to enhance our institutional reputation

Goal 6 - Development Support and develop faculty in grant process including submission and resubmissions

STRATEGIC PRIORITY 2: PARTNERSHIPS & STUDENT LEARNING

Enhance student achievement by cultivating an engaged and inclusive learning environment strengthened by community partnerships (URISP2)

Goal 1 – Graduate Students Increase graduate student enrollment and degree completion (URISP2)

Goal 2 – Student Learning Create a diverse learning community and ensure that a URI education is within reasonable reach for all students (URISP2)

Goal 3 – URI Online Continuously invigorate the learning environment to reflect active learning, student agency, and contemporary, high-impact learning pedagogies through expanding online certificates and degrees (URISP2)

Goal 4 – Integrate with the Community Seamlessly and vigorously integrate URI College of Pharmacy into the community

Goal 5 – Alliances for Educational Impact Foster strategic alliances globally, locally, and regionally for active learning and societal impact

Goal 6 – Interdisciplinary & Experiential Learning Develop flexible academic pathways and offerings for interdisciplinary and experiential learning tied to student interests of study, exploration and work

Goal 1 – Community Cultivate a sense of community —‘one university’— where all students, faculty, and staff find themselves included and their work valued

Goal 2 - Partnerships Create strong partnerships among faculty, staff, students, advisors, career mentors, and community members

Goal 3 – Holistic Well-Being Focus on holistic well-being for all students, faculty, staff, and community members

Goal 4 – Rhody Pride Attend and support URI sporting and recreational opportunities

Goal 5 - Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility (DEI)+ Justice Foster a work and learning environment characterized by consistent, high-quality, principle-centered leadership incorporating Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility (DEI )+ Justice in our education, community development, policies, work, and learning

Implement leading-edge administrative and financial systems and practices to power the University of the future (URISP4)

Goal 1 – Family-Friendly Workplace Support an innovative, contemporary, professional, family–friendly workplace

Goal 2 – Service-Oriented Become high performing, agile, responsive, creative, and service-oriented administration and support staff

Goal 3 – Pride in Work and Learning Nurture pride, ownership, and agency in work and learning

Goal 4 – Contemporary Policies and Systems Develop contemporary, fair, equitable, and inclusive policies and systems

Goal 5 – Expand Resources Employ the human capacity and provide the resources that enable the University to thrive
