current apartment houses were designed together with smaller ones over the bond. each of the four houses has 6 luxury apartments. glassed porches with fireplaces offer typological difference.
the parish of Rae is situated next to Tallinn. Between 20052007 the surrounding area was under a fast building boom. unlike most of the developed sites, Räägusilla was designed as a whole.the development has a strong accent in public space design.

on the other hand we wanted to fit the massive scale building carefully to the wild nature. using the layer logic of the local limestone plateau, we divided the mass to harmonic smaller shapes, resulting the low height on top of the plateau. each block has a specific function hotel and shops, spa, conference center and a reception center.to attract bypassers we added a tower for a stairway gallery and a viewpoint.

entry "I know what you did last sumer, Aliina" gives the big square a new breathing.the traffic is given a universal function for both pedestrians and cars, favoring the first. In the centre of the square we propose a new city library and a competence center. the new building incorporates a flexible plan emphasising spacious public space and creating a musical inner yard. the old churc vault is a music hall and in the two towers, there are empty rooms for listening to the silence.

the site is a former industrial area in north Tallinn.the preserved buildings used to be part of Volta factory, where in the beginning of the 20th century weapons were produced. as the northern part of Tallinn has a great development potential, we tested the suitability of the site for the Tallinn University campus.the goal is to prove that tight urban space can be functional and inspiring.

mandatory requirements of minimal energy efficiancy and a mandatory energymark have forced the whole building sector to consider. In an art genre like architecture, the artistic and pragmatic have always been on scales, its measure depends on the value judgements of the era. all this can lead the architectural discourse to a new expression.

MAIN WALKING PATH
the concept is based on Estionias fast reaction on the widely discussed issue of energy efficiency of built environment. every northern country like Estonia feels clearly the economic measures of energy consumption, in cold climate mostly through heating costs. The last few years has brought us a rapid boom of insulating old apartment houses and building new and efficient ones.

INSULATION SEATS
in warm room there`s an exposition of estonian contemporary architecture, the photos are juxtaposed with thermo足 graphic photos. Using hologram method both of the photos can be seen on the same print depending on the viewers angle. with added energy consumption statistics we give the spectator an opportunity to consider their value judgements and think over the artistic and pragmatic.

entering the +5C cold room, the spectator feels the northeners harsh position and thou the importance of the issue. the walls of the room are covered in blue coloured thermographic photos. on the main wall we introduce a videointerview where people involved in planning and building process analyse a newly built, interesting but unefficient house. every specialist talks abaout his concerns. the cold temperature +5C is produced using heatpump conditioners.

install your head. do it alone or with a partner. observe your senses, thoughts and the process. or just stand, close your eyes and feel connected or disconnected. use the unforeseeable affects as you wish.
object / subject is a contemplation of human body as physical entity, as a vehicle which obeys your will.

different ways of moving immediately affect our senses, creating different emotions, assumptions or suppressions. by entering this architectonic installation, one finds itself in a hierarchical labyrinth 足 one is at once in a bigger and a smaller space. the endless chamberlike mental character draws attention to the aspect, that a mental machinery also has it`s architectural structure. we might say that also psychiatry and psychology deal with the design of mental architecture.all possible attitudes, emotions and reactions are syntagmatic towards each other and beeing structurally connected, they can be architecturally manipulated. object / subject is a reference to such matters and also a call for testing how spacious factors affect the result. forgetting the uncomfortable feeling of unconventional room usage and approaching it innovately, we might use the creative potential of the described shift just as we like. object / subject is a call for unconventional room usage.
