' What do I mean when I say one's a case? Will I ten you in ·meter,' you ask? Well, I'll try; •b ut to tell you .just what l do •mean, . Is indeed quiite a difficult task. If y<m'U find me a maiden who's faitafnl ·and tru&, But who wishes ·quite often to tease; The glance•of wh0se eyes make you feel strangely queer Whose smile never ceases to please; W·ho will ·p ucker her dear little mouth when s1he's ·mad, Ti11 her ,pouting red lips look so sweet That you'd give half the world could you steal but, one kiss, And yet dare not attempt such a feat; Who is always ,in mischief, from morning till night, Yet whom no one dares ever to chide; vVho is self-willed, yet trusting; is careless, yet kind; · Who, than all the wnole wide world beside, Can torment you most easily; who is at once The meanest of girls and the best; Who is just-well, a great many other things, too, But I scarcely need tell you the rest. If you'll find me a maiden like this one, I say, I'll show you a case, real and true. · Yet I think, search wherever you will, there's bu tone; And that one, my darling, is you.
