SOUTHCOM softball team takes the trophy HOMESTEAD AIR RESERVE BASE, Fla. (July 16, 2013) -- The proud SOUTHCOM Warrior softball team took the field here and faced down some fierce competition before repeating as champions. Their first game went neck and neck until the last inning, when the Warriors pulled out a 19-14 lead against the 112th Signal Detachment and then closed out the inning to qualify to play the championship game. “The Championship game, held against the 482nd Fighter Wing “Makos,” was the most difficult game of the season”, said Warriors Coach Kevin Melendez. The lead changed back and forth until the bottom of the 7th when The Warriors scored the winning run to take it 13 to 12. That winning run means the Warriors keep the Championship Trophy for the second year in a row at Homestead. Congratulations, team!
