Amnesty Day 21 May: 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Unit Entrance at Ammunition Supply Point #1. Simply approach the gate, let the ASP personnel know that you have amnesty, and they will take it from you. Amnesty Day provides a “no questions asked” turn-in of ammunition for not only units on Graf and Vilseck, but also for instances where the ammunition may have made it into barracks and housing on and off installation. New York special election 24 May: New York will hold a special election for the 26th Congressional District to fill the seat vacated by Representative Christopher J. Lee. The 26th Congressional District includes the following counties: Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Orleans, and Wyoming. Contact your unit voting officer to register and vote. Tank Trail Open to POV Co-Use 25 May: Join us at 10 a.m. for the ribbon-cutting ceremony (exit Rose Barracks through Gate 2, turn right, site is 300 meters down the road) and opening of the tank trail which transits between Main Post (gate 4) and Rose Barracks (gate 2). Co-use of the tank trail by POVs will be permitted between 5:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. Drivers must be in possession of an I.D. card or installation pass to use the tank trail. This initiative of a "one community" connecting road, allowing community members to transit from one side of the installation to the other without leaving post, is the result of having heard the voice of our community stakeholders; the initiative follows a year of planning and review in order to make this "one community" road possible. NOTE: The tank trail may experience closure during high intensity training events, use of range 132, or inclement weather. Only the tank trail which transits between Main Post Gate 4 and Rose Barracks Gate 2 will be open to co-use by POVs. Speed limits vary along the tank trail and will be strictly enforced.
Join us at our Monthly Community Huddle Thursday, 26 May: The Community Huddle is a monthly meeting for all community members to find out the latest info on programs, events, construction updates, and other important issues. Hosted by Col. Vann Smiley, USAG Grafenwoehr commander, the Community Huddle will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Tower View Restaurant, Main Post, Bldg. 209. Garrison directors and subject matter experts will brief topics and answer questions.
Main Post POV Inspection Station Temporary Extension of Hours Through 27 May: The POV inspection, Bldg. 301, opening hours will be extended by one hour and will remain open during lunch time. New opening hours will be: Monday to Friday 7:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Blackhawk Rendezvous Open to the Community Color casing ceremony, and a full day of sporting events, music, and much more!
11 June: The Grafenwoehr military community is invited to attend the 172nd Separate Infantry Brigade's color casing ceremony on the Main Post parade field at 10 a.m. This important tradition marks their readiness for their upcoming deployment to Afghanistan. Following the ceremony, there is a vast assortment of activities and programs planned for the reminder of the day at and around the Main Post Fitness Center. Activities include: 10:30 a.m. Children's activities and adult sporting events kick off (volleyball, soccer, tug-of-war, softball, basketball, etc.) 11 a.m. Pressath Marching Band Noon - 9 p.m. Karaoke Contest 2 p.m. Eschenbach Band performs 5 p.m. Awards ceremony / Keg-tapping ceremony 7 p.m. Bonfire Parking at the Main Post Fitness Center parking lot. Attendees pay for food and drink. Food: hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwurst, currywurst, fries, pizza. Drink: sodas, beer, wine. Please note: Non-172nd folks can participate in children's event, battle of the bands, etc. However, the sports competition will be for 172nd, as this is an official competition for a brigade prize.
Happy Birthday Army! 14 June: USAG Grafenwoehr and JMTC will host a 236th Birthday Celebration starting at noon in the Main Post Dining Facility, Bldg. 101. The event will consist of an invocation, opening remarks, music, and cutting of the birthday cake. The event is open to the community, and the birthday cake will be distributed to all Soldiers, Families and civilians present. The DFAC will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for lunch this date and features lobster tail, steak, shrimp, chicken, BBQ ribs, turkey and other selections to choose from. The meal cost for lunch that day will be $5.95 (spouses/dependents of E4 & below), $7 for all others.

Sustenance Support for Training Units in Grafenwoehr Units training in the Grafenwoehr Training Area who need to request support from the dining facilities are requested to contact the Garrison Food Service Officer, Mr. John Skutt, to coordinate necessary arrangements. Seeking Emergency Placement Care Providers The children in the USAGG need you. The Emergency Placement Care (EPC) Program trains individuals to become 24 hour providers for at risk children. The community is in need of more providers as the number of children in imminent danger increased due to the deployment rotation of family members. Vilseck Elementary School Continuous School Improvement News VES staff has spent a great deal of time analyzing assessment results of the past year to determine our new focus for instruction. The analysis led us to develop 2 new goals. Our school vision of ―Vilseck Expects Success‖ will remain the same. Africa Festival 2 - 5 June: in 97070 Würzburg, "Mainwiesen" fest site along Mainaustraße between the two bridges ―Brücke der Deutschen Einheit― and ―Friedensbrücke―. The Africa Festival (in EN) has been taking place for 21 years and it has become Europe’s biggest festival for African music and culture. Over the last 21 years, more than 1,400,000 visitors from Germany and other foreign countries have come to Wuerzburg's Mainwiesen to witness the cultural wealth of Africa and to participate in Africa's zest for life. Because of its great success in Germany, the Africa Festival has now found a few copiers of varying quality. To avoid confusion, the name and logo are now licensed. The dancing figures with the name Africa Festival will now and in the future be a guarantee of a high quality in music and background program.
Garden Days: Schloss- und Gartentage 2 - 5 June: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily, at theSchloss Dennenlohe (mansion) near 91743 Unterschwaningen (ca. 30 km / 19 miles south of Ansbach). At this Gartenmesse (only GE), up to 90 exhibitors and vendors will offer their wares in the baron's private garden, ranging from plants, rare species, garden furniture, accessories, decoration, presents and jewelry. The beautiful Park at Dennenlohe (only GE) is a fascinating place for nature lovers: visit the wonderful rhododendron park - the largest in southern Germany (open daily), or marvel at the beauty of the ―Landschaftspark‖, a patchwork of traditionally cultivated and wild landscapes. Additionally, there’s the private garden which is only open on special days, like this event. Every summer, there’s also a photo competition: send your best photos of the park via email or hard copy by 30 October to the mansion (click on link provided above), many attractive prizes await you. Admission fees are 10 Euros per adult, children under 18 are free. Parking fees are 1 Euro. The garden is open daily 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Dogs are allowed on a leash, please bring along a bag for your dog's remains. Bicycles and inline skates are not allowed.
Jura2000 Half Marathon 4 June: in 92339 Beilngries (ca. 45 km / 28 miles SW of Hohenfels). The 21.1 km long route leads around and through Beilngries in several rounds, or take part in a 14 km or a 7 km run. All details will be announced online (only GE). Spectators will be treated to a fun entertainment program before, during and after the race.
Stock Car Race 5 June: 11 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., near 92339 Beilngries, namely at the race track along the road between Irfersdorf and Aschbuch (ca. 45 km / 28 miles SW of Hohenfels). Qualifier for the German and Bavarian championship. Details will be announced on the Homepage of "Crash-Club Irfersdorf" (only GE). Admission: 7.- Euros pp. Families: 17.- Euros. Days of Old Music 10 - 13 June: in 93059 Regensburg, various locations in the city center. 14 concerts at historic locations, with music ranging from the Middle Ages to Romanticism. Trucker & Country Festival 10 - 13 June: in 96160 Geiselwind, Eventzentrum Autohof Strohofer, Scheinfelder Str. 21 (ca. 70 km / 43 miles NE of Nuremberg).
