Soldiers aid Tierheim, more help is needed Soldiers from U.S. Army Garrison Grafenwoehr’s Headquarters and Headquarters Company delivered more than 500 pounds of dog and cat food, along with toys, kitty litter and blankets to the Weiden Tierheim (animal shelter), July 20. The Weiden Tierheim is in need of support for much-needed supplies essential for the pets they care for, many of which are abandoned and neglected by members of the Grafenwoehr Military Community. The company collects food and animal-related donations in bins near the entrance of the Exchange. Wet and dry dog and cat food, along with kitty litter are the most requested. For more, contact Christine Nunez at DSN 475-8432 or CIV 09641-83-8432.
Grafenwoehr Exchange „Pumps Up‟ Savings to Celebrate 116 Years 25-27 July: In 1895, the War Department issued General Order 46 directing commanders to establish an Exchange at every post. Since then, Exchange associates have faithfully served alongside the service members of the United States during peace and times of war. Whether at Grafenwoehr or Bagram AB, they live the Exchange’s motto ―We Go Where You Go.‖ Exactly 116 years later, the Grafenwoehr Exchange is marking the occasion offering 16-cents off per gallon of gas July 25-27 when patrons use their Military Star® Card or Military Star® Rewards Card. The 16-cent a gallon discount is above and beyond the everyday five-cent a gallon savings Military Star® cardholders enjoy when filling up at the Grafenwoehr Express. To apply for the Military Star® Card and Military Star® Rewards Card, log onto www.shopmyexchange.com click the link to Exchange Credit Program or visit the customer service department at the Grafenwoehr Exchange.
AFN Europe Moving to New Satellite Now – 31 July: AFN’s satellite delivery platform is changing, requiring viewers who have an AFN decoder and satellite dish in their home to make some changes to continue to get AFN TV. Since the process of setting up a dish and re-adjusting a decoder varies according to decoder model, location and other variables, the help desk and on-line materials are especially critical. AFN Europe has posted manuals and how-to-videos in English, German and Italian at www.afneurope.net. Click on the Eurobird 9A icon for the manuals and videos. For additional assistance, the AFN Help Desk is open Tuesday-Friday from 1 - 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. -8 p.m. (Central European Time). Viewers from Germany, Italy, Belgium, the UK and most other European countries will be able to call in via a toll-free number, 00800-2362683662 (00800-afnantenna). Direct-to-home viewers will need to reconfigure their home decoder and realign their satellite dish from the current satellite Hotbird 6/9 at 13 degrees East, to the new satellite, Eurobird 9A (EB9A) at 9 degrees East. AFN apologizes for the inconvenience, but assures the move to the EB9A satellite positions will better serve the AFN audience in the future.
